Our buildings are nothing without you, please consider becoming part of our lifeline.
These are challenging times for us all. As a registered charity with no regular public funding, we rely mainly on ticket sales and the support of our audiences to deliver vital work both on stage and in the community.
When we closed our doors in March, we immediately lost 95% of our income. Since then we have taken advantage of every one of the interventions that the government has launched to support the economy, including the Job Retention Scheme, but we are still losing c. £100,000 on essential staffing, building maintenance and other ongoing costs for every month that we are closed. We cannot sustain this for much longer.
Even as the country begins to move out of lockdown theatres are going to be among the very last to re-open at full scale, which is why we now need to reach out to all of our supporters and audiences to help secure the future of Theatre Royal, Playhouse and Stage Two.
We have been overwhelmed by the generosity of our Friends holding on to their memberships and of the many patrons who have offered donations or taken credit notes rather than refunds, and understand that not everyone is able to do so at the current time. Whilst we are hugely grateful for this wonderful generosity, we need more help to navigate this crisis and to recover.
I would ask our audiences to consider the many enjoyable hours they have spent with us, and give what they can. There are many ways to support us – you can make a donation here, buy a gift voucher here, join our Friends scheme here or for more information click here.
Your support will help secure a future for our spaces and will allow us to continue to provide inspiring experiences for the people of Norwich and beyond. Thank you.
