The Empirical Company (16-25yrs)
The Empirical Company aims to facilitate the development of young artists who have the skill, vision and courage to create groundbreaking and exciting new theatre. Training covers a wide range of approaches from acting, dance and movement to self-scripting, technical skills and performance. It offers a safe and supportive community where members are enabled to discover different synergies, forms and techniques, as well as new methods of making and creating performances.
Whilst members must have prior experience of performing, we aim to provide them with a training programme that will support them technically, conceptually and personally to discover and shape their own unique artistic visions.
Airborne offers a dynamic, energetic and creative programme that allows you to create visually stunning and boundary-pushing performances. During the course, you will develop techniques and skills in areas such as physical theatre, commedia, contemporary dance and martial arts, as well as explore the use of music, digital art and spoken word in performance. Using high energy, often risk-taking, dynamic movement and expressive communication you will create original, visually stunning performances.
The Actors Lab
The Actors Lab is strictly limited to 16 creative young people each year. Participants work together as a company to develop, produce and perform their own theatre over a year. Lab members will decide if they wish to produce a piece of new writing, a devised show, an interactive event, or a traditional or contemporary text.
Using the full resources of Stage Two and our 100 – seat theatre, this course offers you backstage training including stage management, lighting, sound design and operation, and set construction.
Young Producers is an exciting participatory programme for young people aged 16-25 years. As well as learning more about the role of Producers in theatres and wider afield in the creative industries, you will be supported to produce Takeover events in the Autumn and other events within the Theatre Royal family of venues.
