Creating through Motherhood: Writing will provide a space for mothers at any stage in their journey to connect with other mothers, talk about their experiences and work on a collection of writing inspired by their experience of motherhood.

Creating Motherhood: Making is a 5 week course led by Rose Feather, a published, participatory picture book maker based in Norwich, and mum to a toddler.

The sessions are an opportunity to connect with other local mothers and make a series of zines, mini books and one-off publications which focus on experiences of motherhood. As a collective of story tellers and illustrators, you will work together to combine word and image in response to weekly prompts and techniques for image making and narrative development.

Sessions will include:

– Discussions and activities to explore the role of picture books in child and carer bonding
– Book and zine making skills development
– Creative making walk in Chapelfield Garden
– A variety of image making techniques including collage and drawing
– The opportunity to come together as a group to create mini-publications sharing the experience of parenting, with a focus on motherhood

This course is open to mothers or non-binary parents or carers at any stage in their journey. We welcome bumps and babes in arms, however there will be no provision for toddlers or children. The focus of these sessions is you, as a mother.

No experience in storytelling, writing or illustration is necessary.
