As part of national Creativity and Wellbeing Week, this year we are exploring care.
In response to the ongoing pandemic Norwich Theatre created a Creative Community Recovery Programme, to offer a wide range of workshops, discussions and activities that supports mental health and emotional wellbeing for older adults. As part of our continued commitment to care – physically, mentally and emotionally, we are hosting lunchtime creative wellbeing workshops to have fun, try something new and come together virtually with other people.
Our wellbeing workshops are designed for complete beginners and those new to our Take Part programme.
Age recommendation: 50+
Time: 12 – 12.45pm
Cost: sessions are FREE, but places must be booked
Absolutely no experience is required
Mon 17 May – Drawing for Wellbeing – Self Portraits
Having been stuck with our own company and perhaps seeing ourselves on screen more than ever before over this last year, let’s see how we get on drawing ourselves. This is a fun and relaxing session, in a supportive space.
No previous drawing experience is necessary. All you will need is a mirror, a biro and a few pieces of paper, card or an opened up cereal packet.
Tue 18 May – Ballet for Wellbeing
An open level ballet workshop suitable for beginners.
The focus will be on enjoying the feeling of movement and dancing. We will start with some simple ballet barre exercises and then learn some easy to follow choreography to iconic music from Swan Lake. It will be an uplifting session to leave you feeling like a dancer in the corps de ballet. Please have a suitable chair available to use as a ballet barre.
Wed 19 May – Drama for Wellbeing
As adults, we can easily forget the positive impact playing can have upon our mental health and emotional well-being. Come along and reinvigorate those natural basic instincts during this lunchtime session where we will play some fun drama games that are guaranteed to bring a smile to your face and laughter to the group!
Thu 20 May – Singing for wellbeing
Singing is good for the body and soul. Join us to learn simple breathing techniques and vocal exercises and a supportive space.
Fri 21 May – Cloth of Kindness
Join us for a soothing online session of sew and share.
From the comfort of your own home experience the peaceful and relaxing nature of sewing words of kindness in company. Pull up your favourite chair, make yourself a cuppa, treat yourself to something sweet, light a candle of hope, and settle down with us.
All you’ll need is one of our sewing packs or a patch of plain material and embroidery needle and thread, paper and pen, and a compassionate heart.
