Betty Blue Eyes | Norwich Theatre Royal | 23 – 27 Jan  

Adapted from the hit film A Private Function, this hilarious and utterly British musical delves into the life of a Yorkshire couple illegally rearing an adorable pig, Betty, during food rationing in 1947. Delivered from the Norfolk and Norwich Operatic Society, this musical is guaranteed to have you in stitches. 

Mama Afrika | Norwich Theatre Playhouse | 27 Jan   

Zimbabwean-born singer, musician and storyteller Anna Mudeka tells the remarkable story of an iconic South African singer, songwriter and civil rights activist, Miriam Makeba. This solo performance is produced for family audiences of all ages, exploring the story of hope, determination and song.   

TOAST Poetry | Norwich Theatre Playhouse | 4 Feb  

An evening of spoken word and live performance, TOAST is Norfolk’s biggest regular poetry night. At TOAST, you will laugh, cry and find something you like (even if you don’t think you like poetry). Funny, emotional and entertaining, this is a great night out for everyone.  

Varna International Ballet | Norwich Theatre Royal | 8 – 10 Feb  

Three classic tales are brought to life by magical special effects accompanied by a live orchestra. Sleeping Beauty tells the classic story of love and innocence set to Tchaikovsky’s sublime score, followed by Swan Lake, the greatest romantic ballet of all time. They will be rounding up their visit with one of the world’s favourite ballets, The Nutcracker.   

The Gilmour Project | Norwich Theatre Royal | 18 Feb  

Performing the immortal music of Pink Floyd and David Gilmour with an all-star band, the show brings together some of music’s most highly esteemed players to explore the Gilmour-years of the Pink Floyd catalogue in all their complexity, alongside notable highlights from Gilmour’s own solo canon.  

 

The Nature of Forgetting

Nature of Forgetting | Norwich Theatre Playhouse | 20 Feb   

Combining live music with striking visuals, this deeply moving production explores the life of a man living with young-onset dementia. Memories come flooding back to him, creating an immersive piece of non-verbal theatre where broken does not have to mean defeated.   

Luna Loves Library Day | Norwich Theatre Playhouse | 25 Feb  

Based upon the critically acclaimed book, join Luna and her dad as they discover magic and mystery, laughter and sadness through the magic of storytelling. Through the power of books, they even start to mend their own history. This is a perfect treat for children aged 3+ and their families.  

  

 

Wizard of Oz | Norwich Theatre Royal | 27 Feb – 3 Mar   

There’s no place like Norwich Theatre Royal this February! Join Dorothy, Toto, and friends on an unforgettable adventure down the yellow brick road to the merry old land of Oz. Direct from The London Palladium, this spectacular production will be truly magical for all the family.  

English Touring Opera | Norwich Theatre Royal | 8 – 9 Mar  

The Rake’s Progress is a cynical but sympathetic tale of a young man’s fall, when his life is turned upside down after a mysterious stranger comes to his door with whispers of wealth and luxury. The following night, Manon Lescaut takes to the stage a devastating depiction of a woman wrestling with her desire for love on her own terms and the rigid double standards imposed on her by society, packed with memorable music and heart-breaking drama.

Immerse yourself in Victorian London for The Great Stink, a hilarious, fun-filled family show about poo… lots of it! Brought to life by English Touring Opera with singers, musicians, puppets, and interactive moments! Meet Queen Victoria, Prime Minister Disraeli, and even the river Thames herself.

São Paulo Dance Company | Norwich Theatre Royal | 22 – 23 Mar  

Fusing the elegance of classical ballet with the sensuality of Latin American dance, this company of talented dancers are set to impress with three UK premieres. Featuring pieces from three different choreographers, this performance showcases stunning movements alongside hypnotic beats. 

Stranger Sings! | Norwich Theatre Royal | 25 Mar  

This award-winning sci-fi spoof is a wild, irreverent twist on the hit Netflix series – in all its hair-raising, blockbuster glory. Take a trip with your favourite gang on a night of indulgent pop culture references, heavy synth, poor parenting, dancing demogorgons, and maybe – just maybe – you might find justice for Barb along the way.  

Shrek the Musical | Norwich Theatre Royal | 26 – 30 Mar   

Embark on an unforgettable adventure with all the family, filled with laughter, love, and ogre-sized fun! Join Shrek and his trusty sidekick, Donkey, as they set out on a quest to defeat the fearsome dragon and rescue the beautiful Princess Fiona in this award-winning musical.

Edward Scissorhands by Matthew Bourne | Norwich Theatre Royal | 16 – 20 Apr  

Based on the classic Tim Burton movie and featuring the hauntingly beautiful music of Danny Elfman and Terry Davies, Matthew Bourne and his New Adventures Company return to this witty, bittersweet story of an incomplete boy left alone in a strange new world. Can Edward find his place in the well-meaning community which struggles to see past his curious appearance to the innocence and gentleness within? 

Emmanuel Sonubi: Curriculum Vitae | Norwich Theatre Stage Two | 18 May  

After numerous TV appearances, Emmanuel Sonubi is on tour with a brand-new comedy show! You’ll be taken on a hilarious and sometimes poignant journey that explores his previous professions, discussing how those experiences helped shape his comedic voice from working in IT to the doors of London’s nightlife whilst building up an impressive list of musical theatre credits.

101 Dalmatians the Musical | Norwich Theatre Royal | 9 – 13 Jul   

You’d be barking mad to miss this smash-hit family musical! There’s trouble ahead for the dalmatians in town when fashionista Cruella de Vil plans to make a new spotted coat. Follow the litter on their adventures with spectacular puppetry, witty songs and show-stopping choreography.

Bring the children along to this family-friendly show. Bluey and Bingo get up to mischief on a Sunday afternoon, just as Dad has decided to have some peaceful time out. Join them as they cause chaos with their cheeky games and cleverness whilst on a mission to get Dad off that bean bag!

This remarkable true story about 7,000 stranded airline passengers during the wake of 9/11 is a true celebration of hope, humanity, and unity.
