Anyone with COVID-19 symptoms or a positive test result should stay at home and self-isolate immediately. If you have symptoms of COVID-19, you should arrange to take a PCR test as soon as possible, even if you’ve had one or more doses of a COVID-19 vaccine. This is in line with the Government’s Coronavirus advice.
What safety measures will be in place when I visit the theatre this Christmas?
All performances will be presented in compliance with the latest Government’s guidance and regulations to mitigate the risk of the spread of Coronavirus.
The auditorium doors will now open an hour ahead of the show starting to provide more time and space for audience members to take their seats and avoid any congestion in our front of house spaces.
We are also creating more space front of house at Norwich Theatre Royal by repurposing our Prelude restaurant from Boxing Day as an extended bar area for audiences to enjoy their drinks and refreshments before the show and during the interval. Hot food is still available from the Long Bar buffet.
Our cloakroom for coats and bags will remain closed and we are asking audiences to plan ahead and where possible limit the number of bags and clothing taken into the auditorium.
In addition, in line with the latest advice from the Government for people to be as safe as possible to limit the spread of Covid-19, we are now also advising visitors and customers to take a lateral flow test before visiting. There will be no requirement to show proof of results, but we encourage this to help keep everyone safe. Anyone who tests positive should not come, and instead speak to the Box Office as soon as possible.
Face masks for customers and visitors, except those under the age of 11 or who are medically exempt, are now mandatory at all times in the theatre, including in the auditorium, except when eating or drinking. All of our staff will continue to wear masks at all times. Other measures in place include hand sanitisers, enhanced cleaning, air purifiers and the auditorium misting system.
Our pantomime casts and crews are ‘bubbled’, and backstage the theatre, is zoned to keep performers, crew and audiences safe.
Do I need to wear a mask?
Masks are now mandatory for customers and visitors, except those under the age of 11 or who are medically exempt. This applies at all times in all our buildings, including in the auditorium, the Playhouse Bar and Café Royal, except when eating or drinking. All of our staff will also continue to wear masks in public areas.
Are you going to be checking COVID passports?
We are not required to implement vaccine passport checks as the updated measures currently only apply to unseated indoor venues with more than 500 people.
