Join or Renew

As part of our commitment to sustainability and lessening our carbon footprint, we are excited to introduce digital membership cards for our Friends from 1 May 24. When you purchase or renew your Friend membership, your digital card will be sent to your inbox and can be downloaded to your Apple or Google Wallet on your mobile device.

We understand that some of our Friends prefer to carry a physical membership card on your visit to Norwich Theatre. If you would like to receive a printed Friends card as part of your membership, simply login to your account and choose the ‘printed card’ membership option when next renewing your membership or get in touch by visiting or calling our Box Office on 01603 630 000. Please note, there will be a charge of £3.50 in addition to your membership which covers printing, postage and administration.

Helpful Q&A

How long does my membership last?

All Friend memberships last for 12 months from the date of purchase or renewal.

What benefits do I receive?

You can find out what benefits each level of our Friends receive here.

Where do my benefits apply?

Most of our Friend member benefits apply across all Norwich Theatre venues, including Theatre Royal, Stage Two and the Playhouse where applicable*.

*This excludes our first night Friend drama discount which applies to most shows at Theatre Royal only.

How do I access my benefits?

If you book tickets online or through our Box Office, your discount on tickets (if applicable) and no transaction fee will be applied at the point of purchase. Where relevant, our Friends will automatically be able to take advantage of priority booking through their Norwich Theatre account.

To redeem your 10% discount in our restaurant, café and bars, simply show your digital or printed membership card. The card must belong to the person making the purchase.

How do I know what shows are on sale?

All our upcoming shows and activities are available to book on our website. Our Friends are sent a monthly email, usually on the third Friday of the month, to let them know which shows are going on sale the week after and when priority booking opens for them. Those Friends who do not have an email address are advised to get in touch with the Box Office on this day for more information. A calendar of our monthly sale dates can be found here.

Why don’t I get a discount or priority booking on all shows?

We are able to offer priority booking or discounts on tickets and other promotions through the agreement we make with visiting production companies when they bring their show to Norwich Theatre. We are therefore unable to guarantee a discount or priority booking for all shows.

Do I get a membership card?

All Friends who provide a valid email address will receive a digital membership card straight to their inbox.

How does my digital membership card work?

Your membership card can be downloaded and stored in your Google or Apple Wallet on your mobile device. You will only need to download your membership card once. If you renew your membership your stored digital membership cards will automatically be updated. If you choose not to renew your membership, your card will be removed from your Google or Apple Wallet. If do not have a digital wallet, you can download and save your card on your device.

Once downloaded, your digital membership card is ready to go. Simply select Google or Apple Wallet from the list of apps on your device and you’ll find your membership card listed here and ready to present to the Norwich Theatre team.

Why have you introduced digital membership cards?

We have introduced digital membership cards as part of our commitment to sustainability and lessening our carbon footprint. We currently print and send thousands of physical membership cards to our members every year which doesn’t align with our own journey to lower our carbon footprint.

We are also very aware that the exponential growth of smartphones has led to a change in how people interact with products and services and it is clear that people are increasingly using digital services for a variety of reasons.

Are digital membership cards safe?

Our members’ information is stored in line with our Privacy Policy. Once downloaded, your Friend membership card is stored in a secure location in your Google or Apple Wallet and is less likely to be lost or stolen than a printed membership card.

Can I have a printed membership card?

We encourage you to download a digital membership card however should you wish to receive a printed membership card, you can select this option when purchasing or renewing your membership. This can be done by logging into your online account or through our Box Office. Memberships which include a printed card will now incur an additional charge of £3.50 to cover the rising cost of printing, postage and packaging. Please note, if your membership is set to automatically renew and you choose to change your membership type, you will need to get in touch with our Box Office to make sure your existing membership no longer renews automatically.

Can I have a printed and a digital membership card?

In the spirit of reducing our impact on the environment, members are asked to choose between a printed or digital membership card.

I’ve lost my printed card, can I order a replacement?

If you have lost your printed membership card, please get in touch with our Box Office who will be able to order you a replacement at a cost of £3.50.

Can I share my membership card with friends and family?

Both printed and digital membership cards are for the use of the individual member only. By becoming a Friend you must agree to Norwich Theatre’s Terms and Conditions. Digital membership cards will only be able to be downloaded once and are only valid during the live membership period as stated on the card.

What do I do if I don’t have an email address and/or a smartphone?

If you do not have an email address and/or smartphone and wish to receive a membership card, please select the membership option to include a printed card when purchasing or renewing your membership. If you do not do this, you will not receive a membership card. You will still receive your member benefits when booking tickets and can request a temporary membership card when visiting our venues. If you do not wish to receive a digital or printed membership card, simply let our Box Office know.

What do I do if I haven’t received my membership card?

If you have not received your membership card within 30 days of purchasing your membership, please get in touch with our Box Office by calling 01603 630 000 or popping in (Mon-Sat, 9.30am-6pm) or emailing friends@norwichtheatre.org

Can I cancel my membership?

Your membership is a one-off purchase that will last for 12 months, along with the benefits you receive.

Will my membership automatically renew?

You can choose to automatically renew your membership when purchasing or renewing your membership. You can remove this automatic renewal at any time by getting in touch with our Box Office.

If you choose not to automatically renew your membership, we will be in touch around 30 days before your membership is due to expire to let you know that your membership will be ending soon and how you can renew this.

I love being a Friend, how do I further support Norwich Theatre as a charity?
