Norwich Theatre is pleased to announce Alan Boswell Group and IBoxit as sponsors of its Business of Climate Stories event on 2 Oct at Norwich Theatre Playhouse.
The event is free to attend and will bring together local businesses to discuss key topics surrounding climate change, including building a green economy, creating change through the power of people and how the business community of Norwich and beyond can push for change collectively.
For John Farley, CEO at IBoxit, sponsoring the event is all about supporting businesses to change. “Climate Change is affecting everyone. The world has to wake up to the challenge and act, by supporting this event, we hope it encourages others to seek similar solutions.”
The event will also feature the keynote guest speaker Luca Feser from Team HODL (Hold On for Dear Life). He will share the team’s incredible story of their 2,800-mile row across the Pacific Ocean for the charity Ocean Clean Up, earning them a World Record in the process.
Commenting on the appearance, Luca Feser said: “I am delighted to be the Guest Speaker at Norwich Theatre’s Business of Climate Stories and meet the Norfolk businesses who want to make a greener and more sustainable environment. Climate action is vitally important, whether removing plastics from our oceans or reducing carbon emissions. By coming together as a community like this, we can see how every action, big or small, moves us one step closer to becoming Net Zero.”
Executive Chairman Alan Boswell Group said: “Alan Boswell, We’re pleased to sponsor Norwich Theatre’s Business of Climate Stories event. At Alan Boswell Group, we take our commitment to the environment around us seriously, and we are committed to playing our part to deliver a sustainable future. By bringing local businesses together, we can help galvanise the business community across Norfolk and support our journeys to a greener future.”
Throughout the day, three deep-diving panel discussions will be chaired by Asher Minns, Executive Director of the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research. Each will feature key individuals from local businesses, all of whom are driving change in the world of sustainability, including:
- Developing comprehensive sustainability strategies: James Groves (Indigo Swan), Ryan Marshall (Anglian Waste Recycling), Nigel Hargreaves (Synfo)
- The power of the people: Sarah Smith (Dynamic Print), Ed Reed (Cornwall Insight), Fran Ellington (Triple Bottom Line Accounting)
- Looking to the future: John Farley (IBoxit), Sheng Qi (University of East Anglia), Michael Yates (Norwich BID), Hannah Wooller (Matter of Place Architects), Phil Hunt (Norwich City Council)
Speaking about the event, Lauren Farley, Business Development Manager at Norwich Theatre, said: “We are delighted that we have two amazing sponsors for The Business of Climate Stories, who are passionate about impacting change when it comes to the topic of climate. This event allows us to broaden our programme and reach new audiences, bringing the wider business community into a discussion that is affecting us all. I see this as an event for the city, allowing opportunities for networking and collaboration. This is also a fantastic chance for learning from the experiences of others and igniting healthy debate and discussion.
“Our panellists feature local companies from energy consultants, architects and innovative startups. By bringing these local thought leaders, brands and entrepreneurs together, we hope the local business community will be able to start those conversations so they can make those positive changes needed to tackle climate change.”
The Business of Climate Stories is part of Norwich Theatre’s Creative Matters Season Climate Stories. This year-long season harnesses the power of creativity and storytelling to present different perspectives on the climate crisis. Inspired by the Climate Stories being told, Norwich Theatre is making its own commitment to sustainability with the hopes of sharing its formal Net Zero pledge by the end of the year.
