On 28 November, King Nigel stepped out of his doorstep and welcomed us to Norwich Castle, spreading festive cheer and enlightening us of his royal agenda. In his finest royal velvet attire, taking time out of his typical royal duties, His Majesty opened up to us in the cold, crisp morning air of his city.

It’s clear as to why the King has come out of his castle to speak to us and perform to the people of Norwich. Speaking very personally, His Majesty stated that he; “preferred live story telling” and so the pantomime is a joyous occasion to celebrate the moment “craft becomes art.” This “outrageously flamboyant” king is set to make himself known on stage at the Theatre Royal’s production of Jack and the Beanstalk.

However regal and prestige the King may be, he still expressed that the true heart of Christmas is the time spent with those you are closest to. The King recalled many Christmas memories with his daughter Jill, who he is excited to welcome back home this Christmas, such as ‘pin the tail on the commoner’.. Although a roast dinner may seem like a royal feast to you and me, big enough to fill us for the whole of Christmas, the King informed us of his typical Christmas breakfast, including; “a quail inside a chicken, inside a duck, inside a goose” – which some may say is a lot of protein for one day.

With not long to go until the show’s debut on Saturday 10 December, his Majesty himself has invited all those from far and wide to enjoy this seasonal spectacular and “a bit of Christmas spirit”. Be sure to book your tickets now to come and see royalty, live and in person!

The man taking on this role, Rufus Hound, described how “it’s quite the leap mentally from my usual quiet persona.”  It’s clear that Rufus, much a like to his alter ego, the King, is a man of the people, serving his role properly and professionally.
