Norwich Theatre has just announced a bonanza of shows for its venues – Theatre Royal, Playhouse, Stage Two and Beyond in 2023 and 2024. Included in its line up are musical sensations, comics to tickle your funny bone, a show to make you think and a murder mystery for you to solve. There are lots to look forward to!

Musical fans will be in for a treat the with newest line up of musical extravaganzas, including Take That’s smash hit musical Greatest Days (7 – 13 Aug 23) at Norwich Theatre Royal, which is sure to relight your fire. Also to tempt you is the wickedly funny Heathers (13 -17 Jun 23), a rock musical that follows Westerberg High’s Veronica Sawyer, a nobody dreaming of a better day. Or why not join the adventure with Shrek and Donkey in Shrek the Musical (26 – 30 Mar 24)?

English Youth Ballet Swan Lake heads to Norwich Theatre Royal on 21 – 24 Jul 23 and adds to the Norwich Theatre dance programme. Two striking dance and physical theatre pieces will make their way to the Norwich Theatre Playhouse Stage in 2023. Including deeply realistic, stark and thrilling, 5 SOLDIERS (20 -22 Apr 23) questions what we ask of our soldiers and explores how the human body remains essential to war, even in the 21st century. Multi-award-winning physical comedy company Ugly Bucket processes the death of a friend in the only way they know how in Good Grief (23 Feb 23) – through a kinetic maelstrom of outrageous clowning, personal testimony and a thumping techno soundtrack.

If perfect comic timing is what you are after, some of the best comedians on the circuit are heading to Norwich Theatre Playhouse. Suzi Ruffell’s (24 Mar 23) brand new show, Snappy, is all about settling down (but not settling), becoming a mother (without becoming mumsy) and still worrying about everything. The King of the one-liners, Tim Vine (11-12 Jul 23), stops off at the Playhouse with a show full of nonsense, daft one-liners, joyful songs, wobbly props and ridiculous humour. Then in October, Stephen K Amos (22 Oct 23) heads to the Playhouse stage for an hour of solid jokes and guaranteed belly laughs.

At Norwich Theatre, you can get up close and personal with some of your favourite stars and fascinating people, including Grayson Perry (26 Nov 23), for a show about identity.

The little ones are not left out, with some spectacular shows to laugh and learn and perfect for all the family. The Mighty Kids Beatbox Comedy Show (16 Feb 23) is a show packed with interactive jokes, silly billyness, beatboxing, and epic sounds created by the audience. Science fans don’t miss Stefan Gates: Rude Science (18 Feb 23), an explosive show that reveals everything you always wanted to know about the revolting (but vital) science that no one ever talks about. Expect zits, burps, farts, snot, scabs, pee, vomit, snot, blood, sweat and tears; all brought to life.

If you want to try something different, Norwich Theatre Beyond and Stage Two have something for you. The Idea is to Keep You Inside (23 – 26 Feb 23)  is a meditative audio walk, exposing the audience to the current debate on women’s safety in public spaces. The piece transforms an everyday public space into a place of reflection on women’s safety while walking. Macondo (4 Mar 23) at Norwich Theatre Stage Two is an instruction-based theatre piece which asks you to choose between Beginners, Intermediate, Advanced and Hero and follow different audio tracks that steer your path through the show. Macondo appears for fifty minutes only in an empty theatre and takes the shape of the people that inhabit it, wrapped up in a predetermined fate.
