Norwich Theatre is inviting the local community to swap the winter blues for a warm brew during its upcoming Tea & Toast Week, running from 19 – 25 Jan at the Playhouse bar.

The initiative launches on Brew Monday, a campaign originally championed by the Samaritans to subvert Blue Monday. By turning the supposedly “gloomiest day of the year” on its head. Norwich Theatre’s Tea & Toast week aims to provide the perfect excuse to pause, relax, and have a conversation in good company.

Throughout the week, visitors can enjoy a serving of toast (white, brown, or gluten-free) with butter or Flora and a choice of Nutella or jam for just £2.50, with the option to add a cup of tea or filter coffee for only £1.

Beginning on Brew Monday, in the spirit of the annual campaign led by Samaritans to turn the idea of Blue Monday on its head, each day, visitors can enjoy tea or filter coffee with toast for just £3.50, the perfect excuse to pause, relax, and have a conversation in good company.

Laura Wakefield, Head of Commercial at Norwich Theatre, said:

“Brew Monday reminds us that there’s always time for a cuppa and a catch-up, and that simple human connection can make a meaningful difference. Whether you’re catching up with an old friend, supporting someone who might need a listening ear, or simply taking a break from your week, the Playhouse bar is a welcoming space to do it. What better way to get the conversation started than over some tea and toast?”

The offer will run all day on Sunday, 25 January. This provides a perfectly timed “double helping” of toast for those attending the TOAST Poetry event at the Playhouse that evening, allowing them to enjoy literal toast before the literary performance.
