Norwich Theatre, in association with A. Cabbage Productions, is delighted to announce the cast for the upcoming tour of Spy Movie: The Play! Ahead of its run at Pleasance Theatre during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2025

This brand new hilarious homage to Bond movies and fringe theatre is co-written by two West End stars of The Play That Goes Wrong, Jack Michael Stacey and Matthew Howell, who will also reprise his role as The Producer.

Fellow Play That Goes Wrong classmates Jamie Watterson will play The Stuntman, and Katy Daghorn will play The Writer.

Completing the line-up is Jo Hartland, who will play the role of The Actress. Jo has previously appeared in EastEnders and Holby City, as well as alongside Matthew in Spy Movie: The Play! at the Edinburgh Festival last year.

On being asked to star again, Jo Hartland said: “It is a real delight, the show is such a joy for families, spy lovers and anyone looking for some entertainment and I can’t wait to be performing it again.”

Jamie Watterson added: “Spy Movie: The Play! has that intelligent, silly humour that gives real belly laughs and it is a treat to be working on its first UK tour.”

In Spy Movie: The Play! Agent Blonde has 24 hours to save the world. The only things standing in her way are dastardly villains, an outrageous plot… and a lack of funding. When Hollywood rejects her script, a frustrated screenwriter invites you – an audience of producers – to a one-night-only presentation of The Greatest Spy Movie (n)Ever Made!

Matthew Howell co-writer and star said: “It is so exciting to be able to perform Spy Movie: The Play! at so many brilliant venues across the UK. We are taking in more locations than a Bond film, they just might not be quite as exotic.

“Our partnership with Norwich Theatre means this movie is bigger, better and funnier than ever. Unfortunately it is still a play. Don’t let that stop you though! grab your tickets and get ready for the greatest spy movie (n)ever made!”

Sam Bain Head of Programming and Producing at Norwich Theatre said: “At Norwich Theatre, we are passionate about producing bold and entertaining new work, and Spy Movie: The Play! is the perfect blend of high-energy comedy and theatrical creativity. This fast-paced, action-packed comedy brilliantly spoofs the spy genre, delivering outrageous stunts, witty one-liners, and nonstop hilarity. It’s an unmissable, laugh-out-loud experience, and we can’t wait to share it with our audiences.”

Spy Movie: The Play! Opens on 29 Apr at Norwich Theatre Playhouse, before embarking on a 13 venue tour across the UK.
