Norwich Theatre and The Book Hive are teaming up to celebrate World Book Day [Thursday 3 March] with a discount for ticket holders on purchasing the books of two top stage adaptations coming to Norwich Theatre Royal.
Next week, George Orwell’s world-famous fable Animal Farm comes to the Norwich Theatre Royal stage between 9 and 12 March. The show is an epic adaptation by Children’s Theatre Partnership with puppetry designed by Toby Olie, whose credits include War Horse. It is a stunning production described as this year’s ‘must-see production’, using cinematic techniques and video game styling to appeal to teenagers and young adults in particular.
From 12 to 16 April, Wuthering Heights will be at Norwich Theatre Royal in a unique adaptation that will appeal to fans of period dramas and adaptations, such as Bridgerton and Downton Abbey, as well as the book’s own loyal fan base. It promises to be a fantastic musical flowing with dance, comedy and storytelling that will take audiences right to the heart of the windswept Yorkshire Moors.
Audience members with a ticket to either Animal Farm or Wuthering Heights can receive a 20% discount at The Book Hive on hardback or paperback copies of these classic novels.

The critically acclaimed Pantaloons present an affectionately anarchic adaptation of Charles Dickens’ coming-of-age chronicle, Great Expectations. Join Pip, the orphan, at Norwich Theatre Playhouse on 14 and 15 March as he journeys through his eventful life via hilarious turns and tragic twists.
Voted the nation’s favourite book in 2019, the smash-hit production of C.S. Lewis’ classic The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is coming to Norwich Theatre Royal between 5 and 9 April, with Samantha Womack as the White Witch.
Two children’s favourites will introduce many children to the theatre for the first time. The Tiger Who Came to Tea and The Smartest Giant in Town are visiting the Norwich Theatre Playhouse in April, with puppets, animal costumes and fantastic songs to delight young audiences.
Roald Dahl and the Imagination Seekers is a thrilling story for all the family told through performance, games and creative play coming to Norwich Theatre Playhouse on 2 May. All around the world, Roald Dahl’s words are disappearing, not only from books but children’s minds too! Now only an organisation known as the ancient guild of tale tenders can save the stories, and they need your help!
On its 10th Anniversary Tour, the Olivier and Tony Award-winning production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time returns to the Norwich Theatre Royal from 3 to 7 May. The adaptation remains loyal to Mark Haddon’s bestselling novel and has been hailed as “a phenomenal combination of storytelling and spectacle” (The Times).
The world premiere stage adaptation of The Da Vinci Code is at Norwich Theatre Royal 24 – 28 May. The show promises to be a gripping, fast-paced stage thriller and a thoroughly entertaining show. Also based on a bestselling book with film adaptation is The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, coming to Norwich Theatre Royal between 24 and 29 Oct.
Award-winning Private Peaceful by Michael Morpurgo was shortlisted for the Carnegie Medal. At Norwich Theatre Royal 14 to 18 June, a thrilling new retelling by Simon Reade explores the lengths a young soldier will go to, to fight for what is right. Age recommendation nine years and older.
The Color Purple is at Norwich Theatre Royal from 1 to 5 November, based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Alice Walker. It is a landmark musical adaptation with a profoundly evocative score by Grammy award-winners Brenda Russell, Allee Willis and Stephen Bray, drawing inspiration from jazz, ragtime, gospel and blues. The Color Purple tells the story of the courageous heroine, Celie, as she journeys through joy, despair, anguish and hope in her awakening to discover her unique voice in the world.
For murder mystery fans, the adaptation of Agatha Christie’s famous The Mirror Crack’d brings emotional depth and psychological insight to a thrilling story of revenge! 8 to 12 November at Norwich Theatre Royal.
Not to be left out, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s brilliant final Sherlock Holmes novel, Valley of Fear, is brought to life in a spectacular new stage adaptation at Norwich Theatre Playhouse 3 to 5 October.
