Community Connectors

Your community – centre stage

Do you want to speak up for your community? Let’s connect.

We want everyone to feel welcome at Norwich Theatre, but we know that some people might not see themselves represented on our stages or feel like they don’t belong. We believe creativity is great for everyone and need your help to share the joy of getting creative within your community.

As a Community Connector, you will be the bridge between Norwich Theatre and your network, letting us know what is important to them, like the kinds of stories they want to hear and the ways they want to get involved.

Who can apply?

Perhaps you work for a charitable organisation or local community service, a foodbank or hospital – you can bring people together and can connect with large numbers of individuals. If you feel passionately about the people you work with and believe in widening access to creative experiences, we want to hear from you!

You must be over 18 to apply, and work or have networks on Norfolk or the surrounding areas. The role will require talking to people, sharing information digitally and acting as a voice for your network.

We are dedicated to supporting communities that are less represented, including communities experiencing racial inequality, those with disabilities, the LGBTQIA+ community, those facing economic challenges and other marginalised groups.

The benefits:

  • Free and discounted tickets to shows and workshops for your network
  • Work with Norwich Theatre on special projects that make a big difference
  • The chance to network with other Connectors and creatives at theatre events
  • Be a voice for your network by being part of consultation opportunities, sharing your ideas with us, and sharing opportunities with those you work with

How it works:

  • Spread the word about upcoming opportunities in your network
  • Invite people to try new things, like shows and activities
  • For us both to maximise the benefits of your participation we would suggest it would be useful for you to attend at least two Creative Assembly gatherings, social events and regular check-ins with the Creative Engagement Project Manager.

Creative Assembly

Community Connectors is one of our five groups in our Creative Assembly initiative. Each group in the Creative Assembly has its own focus and will bring its own ideas and creativity to help shape the direction of Norwich Theatre. Together, the Creative Assembly will transform decision making at Norwich Theatre and enhance communities’ integration into the life of the theatre.

Previous Community Connectors involvement with Norwich Theatre:

The Community Connectors programme has evolved over the last 12 months after our pilot year, the learnings of which have helped shape how we will move forward into 2025 and beyond.

In addition to sharing ticket offers and event information, previous Community Connectors have actively contributed to the facilitation of projects targeting specific community groups. This included a series of musical workshops co-created with refugee communities, in collaboration with Community Connectors from the Norwich International Youth Project (NIYP), and connecting with the Mind REST Hub, a local community café, which led to a two-day immersive pop-up experience, the result of which has paved the way for an upcoming partnership with the Royal Shakespeare Company.

Moving into 2025, we are excited to engage with individuals who want to connect the communities that they support with local cultural opportunities. If this sounds like you, then please get in touch.
