Norwich Theatre has some amazing opportunities to get a sneak peek behind the curtain of two of the best dance companies heading to Norwich Theatre Royal, plus all the creative fun heading your way for the Easter Holidays.
Join acclaimed dancer and rehearsal director Milton Coatti in the Boys Movement Company – São Paulo Dance Company Masterclass (23 Mar). This exclusive 90-minute dance masterclass offers a glimpse into the movement style of the São Paulo Dance Company right on the Norwich Theatre Royal stage.
Between 14 – 18 May, Northern Ballet will be bringing the greatest love story ever told, Romeo and Juliet, to Norwich Theatre Royal. During their week with us, Northern Ballet will be hosting two workshops that give a taste of what it is like to take a ballet on tour. Northern Ballet – Keep Dancing over 55s Workshop (16 May) will take place on Norwich Theatre Royal’s stage and will see participants learning some steps from Romeo and Juliet. This is perfect for those over 55 who have a secret desire to dance or those with a bit of dance experience. Following the workshop, participants will have the chance to join Northern Ballet Revealed (16 May), where they can get an insight into the life of a touring ballet company. Those booked on to Northern Ballet – Keep Dancing will receive a free ticket to Northern Ballet Revealed all other participants £5.
This Easter holidays, Norwich Theatre have plenty of opportunities to get creative with free options and workshops starting from £7. Cardboard Creations: Build a Stage Set (9 Apr) is a free drop-in session where you will be able to immerse yourself in a pop-up stage and experiment with making people, furniture and imaginary landscapes using cardboard boxes and craft materials – no carpentry experience necessary!
Take part in dance-based fun with Dance Day (10 Apr). This extended workshop encourages creativity, imagination, and confidence through movement. Everyone will work together to produce a short, original piece of dance.
Drama Day (10 Apr) is a fun and accessible approach to devising a piece of theatre. Participants will warm up with games and exercises before delving into the piece through acting, directing, movement and physical theatre.
Come sing in our Kindness Choir - a family-friendly sing-along celebrating voices from across the generations! This is a chance for families of all shapes and sizes to come together and learn some familiar musical songs.
Our free resource Explore and Create: Kindness will be available at the Box Office on 9 April. The printed zine will have 10 pages of activities that invite you to draw, write, look and imagine – suitable for all ages and abilities.
