It’s World Television Day! And we could not resist celebrating the amazing stars of the small screen preparing to grace our stages. Which of these brilliant TV stars do you recognise? 

 Lisa Maxwell and Joe Tracini | Aladdin | Norwich Theatre Royal | 07 Dec – 05 Jan 

Our Norwich-themed panto this year has a few well-known TV faces playing its beloved characters.  

You may know Joe Tracini from Hollyoaks, but he is also an award-winning documentary presenter. He is returning for his fifth year for the Norwich Theatre panto, playing a hilarious role as Aladdin’s brother Reg. His Channel 4 documentary Me and the Voice in My Head raises awareness of mental health and his struggle with borderline personality disorder; it won Best Single Documentary this year, and Joe himself won Best Documentary Presenter! 

 The talented Lisa Maxwell is more used to arresting the villains in The Bill as DI Samantha Nixon than being the baddie. But she is putting the police officer duties aside to play our panto baddie. As a regular panellist on Loose Women, we know she can hold her own, so if you  

Giovanna Fletcher | The Girl on the Train | Norwich Theatre Royal | 4 – 8 Feb 

This gripping thriller, adapted from Paula Hawkin’s bestselling novel, stars the lovely Giovanna Fletcher, a multi-talented novelist, actor, and podcaster. 

Giovanna has also appeared on television; she presents The Baby Club on CBeebies and was the 2020 winner of I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! Now, she’s taking on a slightly different role as Rachel Watson in the psychological play The Girl on the Train.  

Tony Slattery and James Payton | Resuscitated | Norwich Theatre Stage Two | 25 Jan 25

Tony Slattery is back from the dead! His TV career is best known for the Channel 4 improv show Whose Line Is It Anyway?  

He is putting his improv skills to use at Norwich Theatre Stage Two, with a brand-new show of all things improv, with help from James Payton, known for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Captain America: The First Avenger, and Glass Onion. 

Johannes Radebe | Kinky Boots the Musical | Norwich Theatre Royal | 4 – 8 Mar 25

If you love to keeeep dancing, you’ll definitely know this TV star… 

Strictly Come Dancing’s Johannes Radebe is Lola in Kinky Boots! If you want to see him perform in laced-up, knee-high stilettos, then this is the show for you!

Alex Horne | The Horne Section’s Hit Show | Norwich Theatre Royal | 11 Mar 

This talented band have two series of their own Channel 4 TV show, The Horne Section 

They are hilariously entertaining, described as “Britain’s Funniest Band” (The Guardian), and have appeared on comedy shows like The Last Leg and 8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown 

And of course, comedian Alex Horne is the creator and co-host of BAFTA award-winning series Taskmaster. If you are a fan of good music and laughter, then this show is a must-see! 

Jason Donovan | Doin’ Fine 25 | Norwich Theatre Royal | 12 Mar 25

Everybody needs good neighbours! And with Jason Donovan around, you know we will. 

He is bringing his Doin’ Fine 25 tour to Norwich Theatre Royal to celebrate his remarkable career in music, theatre, film and TV. This show will feature a selection of Jason’s most beloved stage tunes, such as Rocky Horror and Grease, and will pay homage to his television work, Neighbours and Strictly Come Dancing. Not to mention his most famous pop hits! 

Jason will be back in The Rocky Horror Show reprising his iconic role as the captivating Frank-n-Furter at Norwich Theatre Royal between 28 Jul – 2 Aug. 

Nikita Kuzmin | Midnight Dancer | Norwich Theatre Royal | 20 Apr 

Another one for Strictly fans! Nikita Kuzmin, known for Strictly Come Dancing and Celebrity Big Brother, brings his brand-new show, Midnight Dancer, to Norwich Theatre Royal. Witness his talent in a way you’ve never seen before in this performance with a cast of talented dancers and vocalists.  

Aled Jones | Full Circle | Norwich Theatre Playhouse | 8 May 

The original classical crossover star. Aled’s recording of Walking in the Air, from the animated film The Snowman, firmly established him as a household name. Now he heads up BBC’s Songs of Praise. 

But in this brand new show, be prepared to hear Aled Jones as if you’ve never heard him before. 

Oti Mabuse | Viva Carnival! | Norwich Theatre Royal | 14 Jun 

How much do you know about carnivals? Well, two-time winner of Strictly Come Dancing and current I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here contestant Oti Mabuse is here to take you on a journey of sensational carnival dance across the world. It will be a lively night!
