Familiar faces and fan favourites go on sale at Norwich Theatre

It’s a joyous January with our new on sale! Brimming with hilarious comedians and fan favourite musicals, this line-up is not to be missed!

Norwich Theatre is starting the year like it means it! Everything from the ever-popular Hairspray, a Great British Throw Down judge and more comedians than you can shake a stick at all going on sale. 

All shows go on sale to the public on the last Friday of the month. Norwich Theatre Friends and Ambassadors enjoy priority access, plus extra benefits such as half price first night dramas. 

Get rhinestone jackets, cowboy hats and boots ready as, for the first time ever, all of Dolly Parton’s biggest hits are coming together in a new musical comedy, Here You Come Again (8 – 12 Oct 24). Packed with the iconic songs Jolene, 9 to 5, Islands in the Stream, I Will Always Love You, Here You Come Again, and more, this lively and touching new musical tells the story of a diehard fan whose fantasy version of international icon Dolly Parton gets him through trying times. You best stay at home, Jolene!  

You can’t stop the beat of musical fan favourite Hairspray (10 – 15 Feb 25). This fun-filled, feel-good show will burst onto Norwich Theatre Royal’s stage with show-stopping numbers, dazzling costumes, and dizzying dance routines that you can’t help but shimmy to.  

Great British Pottery Throw Down fans won’t want to miss Keith Brymer-Jones (12 Jun 24) as he heads to Norwich Theatre Royal with his potter’s wheel in tow. Join him live in conversation with his beloved partner, actor Marj Hogarth, as he takes the audience on a journey through his fascinating life and career. Keith will also give an exclusive on-stage demonstration of his much-loved wheel, sharing top tips about working with clay.  

This month features some of the most recognisable faces on the comedy circuit. At the Royal, Ed Byrne (1 Jun 24) mines the most tragic event in his life for laughs. Nish Kumar (8 Sep 24) doesn’t want you to kill his vibe at Norwich Theatre Royal as he takes a look at a country in turmoil. Also, Brian Butterfield makes an appearance! (16 Jun 24) 

At the Playhouse, Punt & Dennis (Hugh Dennis and Steve Punt) (10 Jun 24) are back on tour for the first time in 10 years, returning to what they do best. German Comedy Ambassador Henning Wehn(10 – 11 Nov 24) takes an unbiased look at climate change.Ramble along with comedian and writer Adam Buxton (18 – 19 Jun 24), as he heads out on his first ever live podcast tour). In 2025,Lou Sanders (29 Mar 25) will make her presence known with her surrealist and high-octane style. 

Classic tales are being retold at the Playhouse this May. Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest (21 – 22 May 24) gets The Pantaloons treatment. This energetic and musical production infuses Wilde’s witty words with snappy new songs and frantically funny physical theatre. Join the Handlebards for a bicycle-powered production of Shakespeare’s The Comedy of Errors (25 May 24). Expect music and manic costume changes in a play all about mistaken identity.  

And finally, get a bit of magic in your life with magician-scientist Kevin Quantum (10 May 24). Expect edge-of-your-seat astonishment, intrigue and escapism in a show where science and magic meet.

26 Jan 24 – General Public 

Signing up for Norwich Theatre’s Friends or Ambassadors Scheme will give you access to priority booking for shows across its three venues, allowing you to secure your favourite seats. The entry-level into the scheme costs £25 a year and includes benefits such as priority booking, half-price first-night dramas and discounts on tickets, plus a 10% discount off food and drink at Norwich Theatre Royal the Playhouse and Stage Two.
