Dance is such an expressive medium to watch or engage in. It never fails to provoke strong reactions, from love and loss to sheer joy. At Norwich Theatre, we love them all, and we have some magnificent dance shows coming up.

Carlos Acosta: On Before – 29 and 30 Jul | Royal

After its sell-out success in Norwich and on tour around the UK last year, this astounding performance returns to the Royal before Norwich Theatre takes the show on tour in Europe this summer, another Norwich Theatre first.

This is a rare opportunity for people to see the legendary performer Carlos Acosta. On Before pays homage to his late mother, and is intimate, hypnotic, raw and extremely beautiful.

Songs of the Anklets – 10 Sep | Playhouse

Natyapriya is a group of dynamic and energetic women based in Norwich who share a passion for dance. The group bring the ancient Tamil tale of newlyweds Kannagi and Kovalan to life.

Natyapriya Dance Company bring this ancient Tamil epic to life, with vibrant dancing, beautiful music, sumptuous costumes, and their trademark wonderful storytelling!

Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo – 30 Sep – 1 Oct | Royal

Also known as the Trocks, this all-male drag ballet troupe is loved worldwide for hilarious spoofs of – and loving homages to – classical ballet.

Every performance froths with tutus, testosterone and some serious prima ballerina attitude. The company’s 16 extraordinary dancers take on a kaleidoscope of roles and transform into their male and female alter egos.

BORN TO EXIST: the woman I know – by Joseph Toonga – 10 Oct | Playhouse

Royal Ballet Emerging Choreographer, Joseph Toonga heads to the Playhouse with his hip-hop dance theatre. Born to Exist champions the women who have helped shape his life. Joseph combines his story with the lived experiences of the all-female cast. Expect an honest and uplifting evening with inspirational movement.

Ten Sorry Tales – 2 – 5 Nov | Playhouse

Mick Jackson’s ten short stories are brought to life by Arthur Pita in a surreal mixture of dance, theatre and music.

This captivating show captures his collection of modern-day fables, including the child who sleeps for 15 years, the sinister sisters who prey on trespassers, and the boy who brings butterflies back to life.

The Nutcracker – 22 – 26 Nov | Royal

Prepare to enter an enchanted new world with The Nutcracker by The Northern Ballet. Join Clara at the Christmas Eve party that becomes a magical adventure once everyone else is asleep.

The ballet is the ultimate fairy-tale where goodness and beauty triumph and are perfect for all the family.

Hold Tight – 24 Nov | Playhouse

Hold Tight explores the impact of separation on family relationships and how abrupt change and adverse childhood experiences impact young people, their behaviour and their sense of identity, especially children taken into care.

Peaky Blinders: The Redemption of Thomas Shelby –  17 – 21 Jan 2023 | Royal

Rambert Dance is bringing their new dance theatre production, Peaky Blinders: The Redemption of Thomas Shelby to Norwich Theatre Royal. Inspired by the popular TV series and written by Peaky Blinders creator, Steven Knight.
