Norwich theatre has the half term holidays all wrapped up with activities and shows for families to get creative with each other, including augmented reality and coding a new instrument.
There are many free activities and bookable sessions priced at just £5 per child, with free adult spaces in sessions for the whole family. The Café Royal will be open so that you can start your day off with a hot drink.
Kids get a free cookie with every children’s hot chocolate or Fruit Shoot during the half term week. Don’t forget to stamp your loyalty card to get your tenth drink free.
Free activities (14 – 17 Feb)
All the free activities are drop-in between 10am and 1pm each day in the Octagon Lounge at Norwich Theatre Royal. These complement the Norwich Science Festival and explore the science of creativity.

Get your acting groove on and act out a script with your family with our free script reading, or challenge them to a duel in a theatrical game of charades!

Try on costumes from Norwich Theatre’s costume storage. Will you be a doctor, a pirate, an astronaut or a monkey?

Norwich Theatre’s Theatre of Possibility – Holiday Programme starts today. Designed specifically for autistic children aged 12 -17, the group will come together to make a final creative piece that explores your questions, opinions and hopes for the future. It could be a short sketch, a mime, a piece of creative writing, or a movement piece.

Today is the day for acting, so come and take your little ones on an Imagination Walk. Our practitioner will draw inspiration from much-loved children’s books to take you on a walk like no other whilst staying dry inside!
Discover fun improvisation techniques in Role Play, explore directing, acting and costuming a scene of your own in this playful drama and play session for the whole family.
In Improvisation Station, young people aged 12-16 will have the opportunity to work on their improvisation, comedy and performance skills learning how to create some funny characters.
Also not to be missed on Tue is Sensory Stories for SEND. This session is designed specifically for disabled and neurodiverse young people aged 7-11 and their parents and carers. You will be guided through imagination and sensory play using an array of materials.
Wed 15 Feb
Wed is writing day, so come and explore creative writing with Dr. Brainstorm’s Secret Formula to Save the World. In this session, you are one of Dr Brainstorm’s assistants, and you will need to use your imagination to come up with the rest of the formula to save the planet.
Family Story Makers is an interactive session dedicated to storytime. It uses physical theatre, movement and non-verbal creative play exercises to bring stories to life. This workshop is perfect for children aged 2-4 years and their grownup.

Learn to design and make costumes with the Costume Factory. Using a range of recycled clothing and unconventional materials, you will make your own costume and take home some wearable art.
Crafty Babies will see you and your little ones experiment with colour and mark-making. This is messy fun that will see you leave with an original piece of art – perhaps one for the fridge door!
Head to Norwich Theatre Playhouse to learn how to make epic sounds with The Mighty Kids Beatbox Show to see comedian Jarred Christmas and world champion beatboxer Hobbit in a brand new show packed with interactive jokes, silly billyness and beatboxing.

To end the week, we encourage everyone to get up and move with music and dance sessions.
Mini Dance Lab for children aged 8-11 is a high-energy, fun and accessible introduction to various dance styles inspired by some amazing shows. No dance experience is necessary to take part.
Explore physical theatre, a unique blend of choreography, gymnastics and performance that world-famous theatre companies use in Movement and Physical Theatre. This fast-paced workshop will result in an original piece of physical theatre. This session is suitable for children aged 11-16 and promises to be fun.

Don’t miss the rudest science stage at Norwich Theatre Playhouse. Stefan Gates: Rude Science reveals everything you always wanted to know about the revolting (but vital) science that no one ever talks about. Expect zits, burps, farts, snot, scabs, pee, vomit, snot, blood, sweat and tears. All brought to life with stunts, rockets, fart machines, sneeze machines and enormous bottoms.
