Looking to keep your little ones busy over the half term? Well, look no further! Get ready for a jam-packed schedule of creative activities and shows, offering everything from exciting scientific adventures to a sorting office with a twist. Whether your child is a budding scientist, a drama enthusiast, or loves to get creative, there’s something for everyone at Norwich Theatre this half term. 

So what will you choose? 

Adventures in Science | 16 Feb | Norwich Theatre Playhouse | Age recommendation: 6+ | Price: £10 – £15 

Start the half term off early and go on an adventure with Mr West and his crow companion Crowbert. Mr West will demonstrate the fundamental principles of scientific enquiry with the help (or not) of his cartoon crow. This is some seriously silly science that all ages will enjoy.

Imagination Fuel | 17 – 21 Feb | Norwich Theatre Royal | Age recommendation: 6-10 with their grown-ups | Price: Free 

Running throughout the half term week, the Imagination Fuel workshops are an opportunity for families to spend some creative time together. You will play games, take part in a range of activities, and, of course, have fun.  

At the end of each session, children will be provided with lunch and tasty sandwiches from our restaurant Prelude. 

Varna Ballet | 17 – 19 Feb | Norwich Theatre Royal | Age recommendation: 5+ | Price: £10 – £45 

For those dancers in your life, get them inspired by the beautiful Varna Ballet. Each night, they will perform a different ballet: Romeo and Juliet, The Nutcracker , and Swan Lake. Try your favourite or enjoy all their award-winning soloists and magnificent corps de ballet on all three nights. 

Lieven Scheire: Artificial Intelligence | 18 Feb| Norwich Theatre Playhouse | Age recommendation: 16+ | Price £16.50 

Entertain the tech-savvy teenagers in your life with comedian, presenter and physicist Lieven Scheire’s introduction to this new technology we might all be relying on in a few years. He will give you a glimpse of how it all works, what it can already do, and what it will be capable of in the future. No Terminators, we promise!  

New Adventures: Take Flight Dance Workshop | 19 Feb | Norwich Theatre Stage Two | Age recommendation: 10 – 18 | Price: Free 

There are limited spaces for the New Adventures workshop. The sessions will see participants learn from a professional dancer and try some of Matthew Bourne’s iconic choreography from Swan Lake. Everyone is welcome to this free workshop. 

Play in a Day| 19 Feb | Norwich Theatre Stage Two| Age recommendation: 11 -15 | Price: Pay what you feel 

Come along for a fun, friendly exploration of theatre-making. Through acting, directing, movement, and physical theatre, the group will produce a short, original piece of theatre to share with their families.  

Spaces are limited, so you will need to act fast to secure your slot. 

The Dream Sorting Office | 20 – 21 Feb | Mind REST Café – Drop In | Age recommendation: all ages | Price: free 

drop by Norfolk & Waveney Mind REST hub and pop-in to Hocus Pocus’ up Dream Sorting Office. A surreal cardboard world where dreams are shared, possibilities re-imagined and positive ideas for a better future are packaged. 

Activities range from drawing or modelling a dream in plasticine to writing a postcard to your future self or a letter to a stranger. Take some creative time for yourself in a welcoming and safe space where you can dream big and feel good. 

Eat Me! Drink Me! | 22 Feb | Norwich Theatre Stage Two | Age recommendation: 8+ | Price: £8 

Fancy a Saturday activity? Then, dive into the weird and wonderful world of the senses. In this Alice in Wonderland-themed show, take part in a psychology experiment involving cake and tunes. Limited spaces, so book now to avoid disappointment!  

Darcey Bussell and Dr Peter Lovatt: In Conversation and Dance | 22 Feb | Norwich Theatre Royal | Age recommendation 12+ | Price £10 – £23.50 

Join dancing queen Dame Darcey Bussell and Dr Peter Lovatt for the science behind dance. Can anyone dance? Why do we feel great dancing as a group? How do our brains change when we dance? The pair, who look at dance from different angles, will answer all these questions and more.
