It’s Christmas, and you have got your pantomime tickets for Sleeping Beauty, The Fairy’s Tale at Norwich Theatre Royal sorted, but what are you going to do about dinner? Don’t worry. This Christmastime, the Royal restaurant Prelude has amazing festive fare on offer, and to top it off, kids eat free this panto season!

Even the fussiest eaters are catered for. Your little ones can choose from a roast turkey with roast potatoes, glazed carrots and parsnips and gravy, the chicken goujons and fries or the mac cheese. For dessert, they can try a chocolate brownie and ice cream, fresh fruit or a scoop of ice cream.

All children’s main courses and desserts are free for those under 12, accompanied by an adult purchasing a two or three-course meal.

There is something special for the adults as well. To start, try the roast carrot and chickpea salad with hummus, harissa dressing and toasted pumpkin seeds or the smoked mackerel and potato terrine. If you are in more of a sharing mood, opt for a baked camembert and crusty bread.

For mains, our Head Chef, Toby Thomas, will be cooking up a storm, including a Christmas dinner with all the trimmings, sea bream, lemon and dill potatoes, leeks, capers and beurre blanc or roasted squash, walnut, sage and mascarpone risotto.

Dessert fans will find it hard to choose with a delectable array of options. Choose from an orange and almond torte with yoghurt and pomegranate, a chocolate and caramel pot with crème fraiche or a pear and blackberry crumble with blackcurrant sorbet.

Speaking about the new pantomime menu, Laura Wakefield, Head of Commercial at Norwich Theatre, said: “Christmas is the time for fun, magic and festive treats. During the panto season at Prelude, it is time to indulge in some great food amongst family and friends. Our Chef Toby has worked hard to create a festive menu that highlights some of the amazing local produce Norfolk has to offer.

“As a mum, I know Christmas can be costly, and Prelude’s kids eat free offer is the perfect way to treat the whole family.”

Two courses are £24 or three courses £28. For the ultimate Prelude experience, enjoy your dessert in the interval with a drink and chat about the goings on in the Land of Best Wishes.
