Next spring the Theatre Royal welcomes three big musicals. After its sell-out run last week, the Tudor Queens will return in February next year (20 – 24 Feb 24) with their remixed version of historical heartbreak in SIX. 1970s Rock Opera, Jesus Christ Superstar (8 – 13 Apr 24) tells of the extraordinary events that take place on the final weeks of Jesus’s life through the eyes of Judas. The legendary gangsters Bonnie & Clyde head to Norwich Theatre Royal in Bonnie & Clyde the Musical (12 – 16 Mar 23). This sensational, cult-hit musical tells the electrifying story of love, adventure and crime that captured the attention of an entire nation.
Celebrate the 50th anniversary of Tubular Bells (1 Oct 23) this October at Norwich Theatre Royal. The iconic album will be played in full, as well as Ommadawn Part 1 and Hergest Ridge Part 1. At Norwich Theatre Playhouse, Gareth Gates joins West End Stars to celebrate The best of Frankie Valli (23 Jan 24). Rave On: The Ultimate 50s and 60s Experience at Norwich Theatre Playhouse (1 Mar 24) charts the meteoric rise of Rock and Roll. Expect amazing singing, vibrant vintage costumes, colourful staging, and dancing in the aisles! And don’t miss Genesis Connected on 26 Jan 24.
In need of a laugh, Norwich Theatre Playhouse has a host of comedians and a national treasure to tickle that funny bone. Reverend Richard Coles presents an intimate evening with a unique national treasure who is embarking on a first full national tour because he’s done pretty much everything else a person can do. Rosie Jones (17 Oct 23) is pondering whether she is a national treasure. This show is guaranteed to be full of unapologetic cheekiness, nonsensical fun and unadulterated JOY. Join Mark Steel (10 Oct 23) for an evening of moaning and singing. In Norwich Theatre Stage Two is hosting a British Sign Language Comedy Night! Join us on 8 Jul 23 for Deaf Comedy Night. Queeny Deaffy Drag Mary will be joined by comedians Gavin Lilley and Florian Tirnovan for a show you won’t want to miss. Supported by Norfolk Deaf Festival.
Also at Norwich Theatre Stage Two but for children, see The King of Nothing (26 Oct 23), a puppet musical inspired by Hans Christen Andersen’s story The Emperor’s New Clothes. The Whispering Jungle (15 Nov 23) combines ASMR, sensory play and puppets for an immersive production for young audiences with profound and multiple learning disabilities.
