We are pleased to launch our Digital Stage, a brand new streaming platform that will open up elements of our creative programmes making them available to watch and take part in online. The platform will enable us to reach out to and engage with a wider and more diverse audience, work with a broader range of artists and building resilience for the future.
First on the Digital Stage will be RE-CHARGE, our first digital season opening on 8th April with the live premiere of a new dance-theatre-film Rooms from Rambert, one of our longest-standing artistic partners. Featuring a vibrant mix of comedy, spoken word, immersive theatre and family entertainment, the season culminates with MT Fest on Tour, a celebration of new musical theatre from around the world in partnership with London’s Turbine Theatre. Further shows will be added in the coming weeks.
In addition to the programme of shows and activities presented in partnership with a wide-range of companies and artists, the season will also feature new work specially-commissioned for RE-CHARGE and on four Thursdays during the season audiences will have the opportunity to tune in to theatre, comedy, circus and music, streamed live from the Theatre Royal stage to their sofa. The Live from The Royal series will be available to watch online free of charge through any web browser and on smart TV, tablet and mobile.
Thanks to support from the Culture Recovery Fund and Weston Culture Fund, all events within RE-CHARGE will be made available at subsidised prices or free of charge. The season will also see the launch of the Norwich Theatre Creative Recovery Appeal and those wishing to donate can do so by clicking here.
Stephen Crocker, Norwich Theatre Chief Executive, said: “This is an important moment for Norwich Theatre in terms of both our recovery and our future vision. RE-CHARGE will provide another crucial step in re-creating the shared experience of theatre and re-engaging with our audiences, and in the longer-term our new Digital Stage will also offer an opportunity to showcase great creative work to a wider and more diverse audience in the years to come.
Our first ever digital season of shows and activities will hopefully re-charge us all for the future as we prepare to come out of lockdown and as we plan for welcoming audiences back in person to our venues.”
The RE-CHARGE season has been made possible through funds made available through the Culture Recovery Fund and the Weston Culture Fund.
