Norwich Theatre has announced its Take Part activities for the autumn term, with plenty of opportunities to get creative and join a great community.

Sam Dawson, Head of Creative Engagement at Norwich Theatre, said:

“Our creative sessions this term offer you space and freedom to express yourself in a safe environment, while meeting a friendly community of like-minded people. Our skilled practitioners will guide you through each session and leave you brimming with confidence and a smile on your face!”

Come and explore the stories from Norwich Theatre’s history with the Archive Club (1 Oct & 5 Nov). You will delve into Norwich Theatre’s extensive archive and creatively reflect on what has changed, what has stayed the same, and how storytelling has reflected, challenged and entertained the community. These are friendly and sociable sessions for you to share your memories and help Norwich Theatre write the next chapter of its story. Try a free taster session on Heritage Open Day on 15 Sep.

You will want to put on your dancing shoes with the vast selection of dance options available. Dance Lab (4 Sep – 6 Nov) is perfect for anyone looking to gain new dance and movement skills. Sessions are designed to enhance wellbeing through an exploration of improvisation, physical exercises and choreographic skills. If you are looking to weave a new style into your dance practice, try Freedom of Movement: Cultural Celebration (20 Sep – 15 Nov). This term, the workshops will explore what happens when traditional Indian dance is interwoven into the modern landscape. A free taster session will be held on 9 Aug.

The Boys Movement Company (4 Sep—13 Nov) is a dynamic group for boys aged 11 – 18 who will learn a wide range of dance styles, choreography, and movement inspired by the work on Norwich Theatre’s stages.

For a slightly slower pace, come and wind down with Unwind with Movement (5 Sep—3 Oct). This nourishing, restorative, and accessible practice aims to connect the mind and body to boost wellbeing and reduce stress.

Wise, Bold, Visible Woman (20 Sep – 15 Nov) sessions will celebrate your journey and stories of transformations through storytelling, scriptwriting, imagery, body mapping, and video projections.

Women’s Stories (12 Sep—10 Oct) uses different art forms and playful experimentation, to explore the process of self-awareness and reflection to understand what ‘being enough’ looks like.

For those with a passion for singing, the New Voices Choir (17 Sep – 12 Nov) is the perfect place to be. Join us to learn new vocal exercises and techniques that will help you unlock the full potential of your voice.

Our Parents Singing Circle (23 Jul—27 Aug) is a new creative community for parents, providing space to connect with your little one and fellow parents through music. The Parents Singing Circle is pay-what-you-can, so you can sing with us no matter what your budget.

Your little ones will also be able to enjoy energetic musical sessions with Sing, Dance, Play (6 Sep – 15 Nov). There will be a variety of instruments, as well as unconventional multi-sensory props,  to explore moving, dancing and playing.
