On Wed 4 Jan, Norwich Theatre will host a relaxed performance of its pantomime Jack and the Beanstalk. The performance will feature a Chill Out Area sponsored by Orchard Toys.
The Chill Out Area offers a quiet place with comfortable places to sit and relax for anyone who might need a break. Orchard Toys will be providing a whole range of toys for everyone to play with before, during or after the relaxed performance.
Chloe Chambers, Marketing Executive at Orchard Toys “We are so pleased to be sponsoring the relaxed performance of Jack and The Beanstalk. We are delighted that there is an opportunity for children to see this performance, who wouldn’t otherwise get to experience this fantastic pantomime. You can find a selection of our games and jigsaw puzzles, available to play, in the chill out area before, during and after the performance.”
The relaxed performance is for anyone who may find it difficult to attend a standard performance of Jack and the Beanstalk. This can include people with learning disabilities, movement disorders, autistic spectrum disorder, other sensory, communication or neurological conditions, or those with young children or babies.
This special performance is more spaced out, the auditorium lighting is not switched off completely, and there will be reduced special effects. There is also no need to worry about making noise or moving around. The relaxed performance will still have all the Fee, Fi, Fo, Fun you could want.
Wendy Ellis, Creative Programmes Director at Norwich Theatre said: “As a part of our commitment for everyone in Norfolk to have amazing creative experiences, Norwich Theatre is offering a variety of accessible performances. Pantomime is a truly magical experience that is an important tradition for many families, so it is fantastic that even more people can access this amazing festive treat.”
We have just produce Visual Story, this is a guide for anyone attending the relaxed performance who might be nervous visiting the theatre and would like to familiarise themselves with the show and theatre before seeing a performance. You can download the relaxed performance visual story here.
