In culmination of the Creative Matters: Kindness through Creativity season, the business community in and around Norwich came together to support and share insights around the concept of kindness in business.
Over three lively and engaged panel discussions, leaders from within the field of HR, coaching, councils, law and PR came together to demonstrate how within their professional settings, kindness plays an integral role in their day to day operation.
The purpose of the event was to provide like-minded individuals in the room with actionable steps and guidance to apply within their own organisations with kindness at the forefront of the discussion.
Key points discussed throughout the day, looked at the meaning of corporate social responsibility, how to pitch kindness to your people and community collaboration, with one of the many key takeaways across all three panels, being that to have local impact, collaboration is key.
Each panel centred on a key topic; Business, People and Community – looking at the journey of what businesses are doing internally, how they are supporting their people and how this concept spills into the community.
Tracey Drake from Business in the Community said: “We had some amazing questions and heard powerful stories, highlighting the brilliant work some ground-breaking employers are doing! Yet there’s still so much more to be done.”
Gemma Crane from Mindset HR said: “I came away from the event feeling blessed that here in Norfolk, we truly do have a community of businesses that work quite closely together and have the ‘paying it forward’ mindset.”
Adding the element of creativity to the occasion was Rebecca Osborne, who was live on stage capturing illustrations and captions of the day as they took place, highlighting the essence of each panel discussion.
Lauren Farley Business Development Manager at Norwich Theatre said: “On initial thoughts kindness seemed like an ethereal concept, however talking more broadly within the business community, you realise that kindness is an intrinsic value many businesses have at the forefront of their agenda. It was clear to see from both the discussions in the room and the questions asked on the day how engaged the business community are in this subject, and it was a pleasure to bring this discussion to the forefront of the business community.”
