We are all super excited to fling open the doors of Norwich Theatre Royal and Stage Two for Norwich Theatre’s annual Open Day. There are so many things to do during the day. Check out the full rundown of events here to help you plan your day.
Doors open at 10am – If you need to plan where to park or which bus to hop on, click here. And don’t worry, Café Royal also opens at 10am, so you can start your day with a coffee!
Take a tour – Explore behind the scenes with one of our guided tours that will be running all day, starting from the Box Office. The tours will take you backstage at Norwich Theatre Royal. You will also get a chance to tread the boards – a perfect place for that picture-perfect selfie! Tag us @NorwichTheatre
There will be audio described tours at 11am and 2pm. If you like to come along to these you will need to book at the Box Office.
Be a Sound and Lighting Engineer – Slide those faders up and be a vital part of the show behind our lighting and sound desks.
Go on a family activity trail – Theatre explorers grab a map and complete all the activities dotted around the building. Submit your map at the end of the day for the chance to win a prize.
Spot the panto pictures in the panto trail – We’ve lost our panto pictures! Find them around the buildings for your chance to win some tickets to Norwich Theatre’s panto Sleeping Beauty: The Fairy’s Tale.
Get some face paint – We’ll be offering free face painting for the kids in Prelude. What will you get? A star, a butterfly or maybe get some sharp dragon teeth! There will be creative activities for the little ones whilst you queue.
Did somebody say costumes?! – Live your theatrical fantasy by trying on some of our fabulous costumes from pantomimes past in our Balcony Bar. We will also have a costume sale in the wings of the stage. Pick up a bargain and be the envy of your fashionista friends.
Tummies rumbling, time for lunch – Pop to Café Royal at lunchtime for a delicious selection of paninis, wraps, salads and sweet treats.
There’s more upstairs! Don’t forget to head to the first floor to delve into our archive of more than 200 years of Norwich Theatre history. Or pop into the Long Bar to explore our Creative Matters projects.
Photo opportunity – Be the star of your own show! Get the picture perfect selfie on our historic stage. Make sure you tag us @NorwichTheatre on Instagram.
Get hands-on with some free activities in Stage Two – Head to Stage Two for some family fun. Studio One will be full of costumes, props and puppets for you to play with. Try one of our Take Part workshops running throughout the day no need to book you can just drop in:
