We are delighted to share that the Playhouse Bar re-opened to the public on Thursday 16th July. The temporary setup features a number of unique changes including table service, a one-way system and on-stage seating inside the Playhouse auditorium.
The new-look Playhouse Bar is open on Thursday, Friday and Saturdays, with adjusted hours of 3-11pm. Customers will be able to use the garden terrace, playroom and a specially-adapted space inside the theatre auditorium. This includes tables and chairs on the Playhouse stage, plus modified seating in the stalls. To ensure a safe environment for our customers, there will be a number of changes to the experience:
The capability for social distancing has been optimised, with tables positioned at least 2m apart. It will be one of the most spacious bar areas available in the city. To ensure appropriate distances are kept between groups, it will not be possible to move the bar furniture around the building.
On arrival customers will be greeted at the door and asked to provide contact details for the Government’s Test and Trace process. Next, they will move to the hand-sanitising station. Finally, the customers will be given directions to their numbered table and instructed to follow the one-way flow system to reach their seat.
If customers need to use toilets, they will also be instructed to follow a one-way route. Toilets will temporarily become unisex, to ensure distances are kept between patrons across the building.
The bar will not be accessible to the public and will be used as a preparation area by the Playhouse staff. As a result, we have introduced table service, with roaming team members’ on-hand to take orders. Customers will be required to make contactless payments for their drinks, with the card limit increased to £45.
We are really excited to welcome everyone back to The Playhouse Bar in a safe and relaxing environment. Cheers!
