A Deaf Comedy Night is heading to Norwich Theatre Stage Two on 8 July for a special night guaranteed to make you laugh. This deaf-led gathering is for everyone and is organised by the Norfolk Deaf Festival.

The Norfolk Deaf Festival celebrates the world of the D/deaf community with informative, interactive fun. It allows everyone to get together, share experiences and access support from various local and national organisations. Everyone is welcome, whether you are D/deaf or hearing.

The Deaf Comedy Night will be signed in British Sign Language (BSL) by the performers and will be interpreted into spoken English, making the show accessible.

Three stand-up comedians from the deaf community will deliver their hysterical stories, quick one-liners and punchy puns. Your host for the evening of fun is Queeny Deaffy Drag Mary.

Gavin Lilley has performed his signed shows to audiences across the world. Through his entertaining style of observational comedy, Gavin shares his experiences as a Deaf person navigating a hearing world with some hilarious consequences.

Florian Tirnovan is flying in from Sweden for a night of fulfilling humour, dark or light! You might recognise him from YouTube, where he has 100,000+ fans on his channel FlowTV.

A spokesperson from the Norfolk Deaf Festival said: “We are looking forward to an amazing night, to have a comedy night in British Sign Language in which we will not miss a joke or punch line as well in our culture too. We hope to share the experience with everyone D/deaf and hearing, make comedy a show that both cultures can laugh and share enjoyment. Norfolk Deaf Festival is about bringing both worlds together in one space to achieve equality and celebrate diversity.”

Rachel Lloyd, Programming Manager & Producer from Norwich Theatre, said: “The night is sure to be fantastic and full of laughter. This show will be performed in both BSL and spoken word, with stories and jokes told by Deaf comedians. The show will be fully accessible for those whose first language is BSL and hearing audience members. Everyone will get the chance to enjoy a great night of comedy together.”
