This month immerse yourself in magical worlds and fantastic stories on offer at Norwich Theatre Royal.  

The Ocean at the End of Lane | 5 – 9 Sep 

Based on Neil Gaiman’s 2013 fantasy novel, this show has everything intrigue, fantastic staging with an element of Stranger Things that stay with you long after you have left the theatre.  

Returning to his childhood home, a man finds himself standing beside the pond of the old Sussex farmhouse where he used to play. He’s transported to his 12th birthday when his remarkable friend Lettie claimed it wasn’t a pond but an ocean – a place where everything is possible. Plunged into a magical world, their survival depends on their ability to reckon with ancient forces threatening to destroy everything around them. Starring EastEnders Charlie Brooks. 

Jerry Springer the Opera | 5 – 10 Sep 

A brand new production by Norwich based performance group Sound Ideas Theatre Company. Jerry Springer – The Opera tells the story of a day in the job of world famous talk-show host, Jerry Springer. Expect chaos and debauchery to ensue. 

The Rocky Horror | 11 – 16 Sep 

Richard O’Brien’s legendary rock ‘n’ roll musical celebrates 50 years of non-stop partying with this special anniversary production. The Rocky Horror Show is the story of two squeaky clean college kids – Brad and his fiancée Janet. When, in a twist of fate, their car breaks down outside a creepy mansion, they meet the charismatic Dr Frank’n’Furter.  

The Rocky Horror Show is ready to thrill you with fun and naughty moments and features timeless classics, including Sweet Transvestite, Damn it Janet, and of course, the pelvic thrusting show-stopping Time Warp.  

   

The Drifters Girl | 19 -23 Sep 

The Drifters Girl tells the story of The Drifters and the truth about the woman who made them. Faye Treadwell is their legendary manager who fought for three decades alongside her husband, George, to turn Atlantic Records’ hottest vocal group into a global phenomenon.  

This jukebox musical boasts an incredible soundtrack of some of the most famous songs in history, including Save The Last Dance For Me, Under The Boardwalk and Saturday Night At The Movies.  

Life of Pi | 25 – 30 Sep 

Based on one of the best-loved works of fiction – winner of the Man Booker Prize, selling over fifteen million copies worldwide. Life of Pi unfolds after a devastating shipwreck leaves five survivors stranded on a lifeboat in the vast expanse of the Pacific Ocean. Among them are a hyena, a zebra, an orangutan, a sixteen-year-old boy, and a formidable 450-pound Royal Bengal tiger. Time is against them, and nature is harsh. Who will survive? Jaw-dropping visuals and world-class puppetry ensure this is a show you will not want to miss.
