Norwich Theatre’s take part summer term has just been announced and it is packed with workshops and sessions to get creative by singing, moving, making theatre and playing with your little ones. 

Discover the power of music with the New Voices Choir (23 Apr – 2 Jul). An intergenerational choir that allows participants to learn new vocal techniques to get the best out of your voice. Theatre Cares: A Life in Music (25 Apr – 18 Jul or 2 May – 18 Jul) is a free group for those with mild to moderate dementia and their carers/partners to get together and explore music in all its forms. You will get hands on with drums, chimes, and stringed and small percussion instruments. 

Inspired by the Norwich Moves season – a season that provides different approaches to storytelling – there are several sessions to get you up and exploring creative movement. Dance Lab (15 Apr – 1 Jul) is a weekly programme for adults aged 50+ who are looking to develop their technique, creativity and musicality. For an opportunity to explore physical theatre and engage with your creative self try Contemporary Freedom of Movement: Connecting With Kindness (16 Apr – 11 Jun). This unique piece of ensemble theatre will be influenced by personal experiences and emotions. The project will cover skills such as devising techniques, improvisation, ensemble skills and physical story-telling. 

For a relaxed and supportive ballet class try Ballet 50+ (26 Apr – 5 Jul). Open to all abilities this is a perfect way to get your bodies moving and to connect with others. Boys Movement Company (24 Apr – 3 Jul) is a bold and diverse in-house company for boys aged 11 -18. They will explore a wide-range of styles of dance, choreography and movement. 

This term’s Creative Café (13 May – 8 Jul) is all about grooving together. The summer group will be exploring the physical, mental and sociable benefits of dance and movement. All activities are accessible, and can be enjoyed seated or standing. Come and join a creative community that celebrates stories of growth, reinvention and wisdom with Ageless Wisdoms (18 Apr – 13 Jun). Sessions will be fun, accessible providing a platform to explore and discover how a creative ensemble thinks and feels. 

Your little ones won’t miss out with Sing, Dance, Play (10 May – 19 Jul). These are energetic musical sessions giving you a chance to connect with your little one, and other parents in a creative and supportive space. Singing through Parenthood (4 Jun – 2 Jul) is perfect for parents and pre-school children to connect and share the joy of raising your voice to some toe-tapping tunes. Each session is complimented by Norwich Theatre’s Sensory Story-time set up- a tangle of soft, sensory sculptures and storybooks to delight and intrigue your little ones.
