Statement about investigation into hospitality workers

Category:

  • Norwich Theatre News

“In recent weeks Norwich Theatre has had to undertake an investigation into serious allegations of misconduct against hospitality workers and employees within our organisation. The thorough investigation has confirmed that a number of the individuals concerned stole from Norwich Theatre and separate, but additional findings, for a smaller number of individuals were reached regarding inappropriate graffiti on Norwich Theatre property.

“Following completion of the investigation, decisive disciplinary action has been taken and, given the seriousness of theft from a charity, the matter has now been reported to the Police.

“It is unfortunate that this situation found its way into the public domain. This was not our choice, but because of this, we are forced to make the outcome of the investigations public as well. We would have preferred to handle this privately and reduce the stress on those involved. While, of course, Norwich Theatre takes theft seriously and has taken appropriate action in response, there was no need for this to play out in public and we do not believe this was in the best interests of the individuals concerned or any of Norwich Theatre’s people. This only increased the distress for all involved or associated.

“Norwich Theatre will not be making any further public comment on the matter.”
