Prelude at Norwich Theatre Royal will offer diners a fresh and exciting pre-show menu using locally-sourced ingredients when it opens its doors to the public on Tuesday April 30.
Stephen Wright, the theatre’s hospitality manager, said: “As well as our pre-show menus, we will be open all morning for coffee and cakes, will offer a lunch service, and afternoon refreshments too.
“The menus will feature tasty fresh meals created using high-quality ingredients which we will source locally.”
Prelude at Norwich Theatre Royal has been totally redesigned with a fresh but elegant contemporary look, inspired by the building’s art deco heritage. The new space will also feature specially commissioned new artwork along with some previously unseen images from the Norwich Theatre Royal archive.
Stephen said: “We want guests to experience great food in an environment that is both relaxed and refined. It is also exciting to be resuming our place with this refreshed look and offer at the heart of Norwich’s highly competitive dining market.
“We also want it to be a destination for everyone to enjoy whether it is a visit to the theatre, a lunch or dinner to celebrate a special occasion, a catch-up with friends, or just a hot drink and a snack after shopping or buying tickets for a show.”
The new design will also enable the restaurant to grow its customer levels and, like all of Theatre Royal and Playhouse’s commercial activities, the profits from the restaurant will be re-invested into the upkeep of its buildings, artistic programme and learning and participation work with a range of communities.
The restaurant is re-opening following a kitchen fire in mid-January which temporarily closed it.
Stephen Crocker, Norwich Theatre Royal chief executive, said: “I am absolutely passionate about ensuring the quality of our offer off-stage matches what we offer on-stage. Prelude at Norwich Theatre Royal will do just that with its stylish yet relaxed look and feel, coupled with a high quality experience for our theatre attendees as well as visitors to our building throughout the day. Our commercial activities are a vital part of our business model as the profits we generate support our broader charitable objectives and Prelude at Norwich Theatre Royal is a major new development for us in this area.”
Bookings are now open for people to reserve tables on our website, or by calling the booking line on 01603 598577. You can also follow the restaurant on Facebook here.
