We are celebrating the diverse and powerful stories being told at Norwich Theatre Stage Two. From true stories of bravery and heroism through sickness to fictional tales of Ancient Greece, the line-up is filled with must-see talent.  

Katie Arnstein: The Long Run | 22 Sep 

Katie’s life is turned upside down when her mum is diagnosed with cancer, especially when she meets an elderly man in a radiotherapy waiting room corridor. This touching play combines the pain of cancer diagnosis with the self-inflicted pain of running a marathon, creating an emotionally rich and hilarious story. 

James Rowland: Learning to Fly | 27 Sep 

Theatre, comedy, and music are combined in James Rowland’s latest production which is about connection, love and time. Telling the story of a remarkable friendship he made when he was a lonely, unhappy teenager with the scary old lady who lived in the spooky house on his street. It’s also about her last wish: to get high once before she died.  

James Rowland Dies at the End of the Show | 28 Sep 

James Rowland poses the question: What would you do with an hour if you knew it was your last hour ever? For James, the answer is easy: he wants to tell you a story. In this final instalment of his Life Cycle performance trilogy, he beautifully depicts the people and experiences that have shaped him.

The ‘Masters of Storytelling’, Wright and Grainger, will transport you to an Ancient Greek tale in modern-day rural England with their unique production, Helios. Following the journey of the son of the God of the Sun, the story is about life, an insane road trip and the little things that leave big marks.  

It’s the Economy, Stupid! | 19 Oct 

This raw and honest piece of storytelling explores how people’s lives are shaped by the economies they grew up in. Full of energy, comedy and an old board game, this bold new show hilariously illustrates how the free market works – and doesn’t work.  

Lewis Buxton: FRIEND | 25 Oct (Do I include this one? It’s poetry) 

Award-winning poet and performer, Lewis Buxton, delves into his darkest secrets and spills the beans on what it’s like to make new friends in your thirties. His poignant stories are interweaved with sports, sitcoms and socialising.  

One Way Out | 26 Oct 

Four friends on the cusp of adulthood have ambitious goals but an air of uncertainty lingers. As they take their first steps towards independence, a world-shattering event turns their lives upside down. Influenced by stories of the Windrush scandal, this emotive drama focuses on friendship and choices people make.  

Santi & Naz | 29 Oct 

Santi and Naz are best friends living in a village in pre-partition India and have no idea how religion will divide them. They’re too preoccupied with stealing books, swimming in the lake and spying on the local hotties. Things change when Naz gets betrothed, and the threat of the young women’s separation looms on the horizon. The story tenderly explores female friendship and coming of age.  

Mr Cleverly’s Trans-Continental Delivery Service | 2 Nov 

This is whacky storytelling with a twist! Children and adults alike are invited to join the unique world of parcels, packages and posts with Mr Cleverly’s Trans-Continental Delivery Service. This silly tale is told via live wireless headphones with playful visuals and live percussion on stage, creating a truly immersive storytelling experience.  

The Duke | 3 Nov 

This one-man show will have you laughing and crying simultaneously. Weaving together tragic accidents with comedy, The Duke is original storytelling at its best. Fantasy and reality seamlessly blend together in this playful show that gently challenges our priorities in a world full of crisis.
