Forgotten in the Land of Egypt | 2 Mar

Set in East Anglia, this new play explores the past, present, and future. In 1631, The Fens were drained. In 2050, two children play in the waterscape telling tales of a mythic Waterman. Then, in 2023, a priest is visited by someone haunted by prophetic dreams. Witness a haunting exploration of climate change in this new production, intertwining the themes of loneliness and longing with the familiar landscape of our home county.

English Touring Opera present: The Vanishing Forest | 15 Mar | 7+

This family-friendly continuation of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream follows Puck’s journey through the Forest of Arden, where trees are being felled, causing the land’s magic to disappear. With the use of charming puppetry and soaring vocals, this enchanting show brings to life a story of magical spells and enchanting creatures, all whilst informing children about deforestation. Join Puck and help save the forest in this hour of imagination!

English Touring Opera present: What Dreams May Come | 15 Mar | 12+

This original production celebrates Shakespeare’s timeless words and songs, using innovative puppetry to illustrate a life’s most treasured memories.  A chamber ensemble tenderly depicts these memories through song, interwoven with humour and uplifting themes, creating a moving journey that will resonate with lovers of both music and literature.

Whipped Up! | 16 Mar | Babies up to 2

Get ready for a hilarious and heartwarming treat with this interactive show. Join Dottie on her first day working in a 50s-style diner where all the guests are babies! Follow Dottie along as she grows more frazzled from her demanding customers. With sensory play throughout, this interactive show will captivate the littlest audience members whilst providing entertainment to the grown-ups!

Dan Tiernan: Stomp | 22 Mar | 14+

Don’t miss the return of ‘Mancunian Wild Man’ with his highly anticipated new show!  After two sold-out Edinburgh Fringe runs, this high-energy performance brings Dan’s trademark chaos back to the stage. Expect a rapid-fire delivery of hilarious gags covering everything from gout to gay awakenings, all culminating in a show-stopping magical finale.  Seen on the likes of QI and 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown and having toured with comedy giants like Micky Flanagan and Fern Brady, Dan Tiernan is a comedic force you won’t want to miss.

Bad Clowns: Hostage | 29 Mar | 14+

A fun-fuelled chaotic show from the comedy trio Bad Clowns that will see you laugh all the way home. This raucous comedy sees the original playwright of the show The Worrisome Troubles of Timothy Potts’ takecontrol of not just the show but the entire audience!

Visible Woman | 7 – 8 Mar

An unmissable multi-sensory event this International Women’s Day, curated by a community of artists that aim to inspire, inform, and ignite. The Norwich Theatre Stage Two building will be filled with installations, film, and music over the course of two days, championing the unheard voices and power of women. Tickets are free but must be booked in advance.

Sad Book: Dance Workshop | 14 Mar | 16+

Discover the power of movement and storytelling in this unique workshop inspired by Michael Rosen’s award-winning Sad Book. Led by choreographer and director Andrea Walker, you’ll explore how personal experiences shape the way we move and how dance can express powerful emotions. Whether you’re a seasoned dancer or just beginning your movement journey, all experience levels are welcome in this friendly session.

Sad Book: Creative Writing Workshop | 14 Mar | 16+

Another powerful workshop inspired by Michael Rosen’s Sad Book, this session explores healthy ways of processing grief through creative writing. Led by an experienced facilitator from the Healing Expressive and Recovery Arts Project, you can discover how writing can bring perspective and comfort. No prior writing experience is necessary, this is for anyone seeking solace through the power of words.

Lay Down Your Burdens: Creative Workshop | 27 Mar | 18+

Open to all ticket holders of Lay Down Your Burdens at Norwich Theatre Royal on 28 – 29 Mar, this free workshop is an invitation to come together and lighten the load collectively. Choreographer Rhiannon Faith creates powerful, socially conscious work, and this 90-minute session offers a unique opportunity to delve into the world of the performance. Led by the show’s dancers and musicians, you’ll engage in creative writing, enjoy live music, and explore movement, reflecting on personal experiences and how we support each other.
