The festive season is twinkling into view, and here at Norwich Theatre, we’re buzzing with excitement because Cinderella is here! Get ready to boo, cheer, and be utterly enchanted as the pumpkin carriage rolls onto our stage, bringing with it all the seasonal wonder and pure panto magic you could wish for.
One of the things we’re most passionate about is ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to experience panto because magic should be inclusive.
This year, for our Cinderella Pantomime, we’ve lined up some fantastic options during the show’s run. Let’s take a quick look:
Captioned | 12 & 30 Dec
Our captioned performances are perfect for anyone who are hard or hearing or would like a clearer understanding of the show, so you never miss a cue to shout out!
At these performances, the actor’s spoken words are displayed on screens next to both sides of the stage, at the same time as the action happening on stage.
Audio Described | 14 & 27 Dec
Audio-described performances are for those visually impaired or would like more understanding of what is happening on stage.
At these performances, there will be live verbal commentary that can be heard through a headset that we provide. A trained audio describer will be at the back of the auditorium, with a view of the stage, giving the live description.
The headsets will be provided to you at the box office on arrival to the theatre.
Touch Tours | 14 & 27 Dec
A pre-show experience for those who are visually impaired and tickets to the Audio Described performance. You will be able to explore and familiarise yourself with the sets, props, and costumes.
BSL Interpretation | 19 & 30 Dec
These performances will have a professional BSL interpreter standing by the stage, signing what the actors are saying through the show. Ideal for deaf or hard of hearing audience members.
BONUS! Before these shows, join our BSL Café an hour prior for a lovely cuppa, a chat with our team, and a chance to meet the interpreter.
Sensory Adapted | 29 Dec
Our sensory adapted performance is open to all audience members but adapted to make a more comfortable experience for those with sensory processing differences. There will be reduced sound levels, softened lighting and adjustments to special effects. All seats for this show are available for booking.
Relaxed Performance | 2 Jan
Similar to our sensory adapted show with reduced sound and softened lighting, but with fewer seats sold to create more space and a super relaxed atmosphere. This performance also comes with our handy Visual Story Guide.
We will also have a vehicle for change toilet in our staff car park during this show. The cubicle is fitted with a lift, height adjustable changing table, toilet with grab rails, motorized hoist, hot water, heat and plenty of space for care givers and users.
Of course, all these performances are for everyone to enjoy! And here’s a little extra sparkle for the family:
Kids Eat free at Prelude! Throughout the panto run, any child under 12 can enjoy a free main course and dessert at our lovely in-house restaurant, Prelude, when an adult purchases a two or three-course meal. More festive joy for everyone!
