James has been touring his storytelling theatre shows for half his adult life. This tour was different though. Returning home after his first stint away, he received a letter that exploded his life, and the tour became a search: for the person who sent it, for a sense of where he comes from, and to maybe save a life.

PIECE OF WORK is about the hope that makes our life liveable. Through his trademark mix of music, song, story, and Shakespeare’s Hamlet, will paint a picture of our country in all of its beauty, grime, pain and kindness, over one heart rending and hilarious evening.

James is best known for his SONGS OF FRIENDSHIP trilogy – TEAM VIKING, A HUNDRED DIFFERENT WORDS FOR LOVE and REVELATIONS – which won significant critical acclaim, touring the UK and internationally for 4 years, before being published by Oberon Books. LEARNING TO FLY is currently touring the UK following a 5 star sell out run at Summerhall, Edinburgh.

All featuring his captivating mix of comedy, music and storytelling, James’ shows have successfully tour to both remote rural locations and leading regional theatres.
