Nel’s Place is presented as part of the REWRITES partnership.

REWRITES showcases new musicals at the start of their journey to the stage – a platform that puts shows on their feet and in front of an audience for the first time.

Trapped in a hoard of memories and music, Nel yearns to make space for granddaughter Molly’s 16th birthday celebrations. Can Nel find a way through grief to let her family in?

Nel’s Place is a new musical from Sheep Soup, examining what material things really mean to us, and how easily we can become buried by the past.

From the Edinburgh Fringe to the bingo hall, festivals to auditoriums across the country, Sheep Soup fills every venue with their signature brand of genre-busting musical theatre and comedy. Relatable characters and stories combine with electrifying original music to bring you a night guaranteed to charm your pants off.

Sheep Soup hails from the globally-renowned, BAFTA award-winning Television Workshop, the Midlands training ground that counts Vicky McClure, Bella Ramsey and Jack O’Connell among its glittering roster of alumni.

The performance on the 22nd of March will open with a sneak peak at the new musical, The Highwayman, by Kitty Morgan, coming to Norwich Theatre later this year. Inspired by the classic Alfred Noyes poem of the same name, this new musical is a sexy, darkly funny and deeply moving exploration about longing for better, while trying to run from the worst of our past.

REWRITES is a partnership programme led by The Lowry, Birmingham Hippodrome, MAST Mayflower Studios and Norwich Theatre.
