The Easy Rollers: Drop Me Off In Harlem
This event is in the past
Returning with ‘Drop Me Off In Harlem’, the Easy Rollers take you on a musical journey through The Jazz Age and The Swing Era, highlighting famous music, artists and culture along the way. This new two-act show begins in 1920, before exploring the post-Prohibition music of the 30s and early 40s.
Expect an authentic underground speakeasy experience and to hear songs made famous by artists such as Sister Rosetta Tharpe, The Boswell Sisters, Ruth Etting, Lee Morse, Annette Hanshaw, Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Gene Austin, Margaret Young, Helen Morgan, Paul Whiteman, Fats Waller, Cab Calloway, Helen Kane and many more.
The Easy Rollers are a roaring seven-piece jazz outfit originally established in Manchester. Since 2016 they have been steadily building a reputation as one of the hardest working jazz bands in the north of England, with appearances at Manchester Jazz Festival, Cheltenham Jazz Festival, Lake District Summer Music, Buxton Festival, Manchester Day, Brecon Jazz Festival, Marsden Jazz Festival and The Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
