Young Cultural Leader
The Young Cultural Leaders programme (YCL) offers young people aged 18-30 the opportunity to gain practical skills and learn how to help shape and define leadership, with a longer-term ambition of diversifying our board with representation of young cultural leaders within our governance structure and establishing a culture of young leadership within partner organisations.

In Year 1, YCL participate in monthly sessions led by a diverse panel of influential guest speakers exploring examples of leadership in practise and leadership ‘tools’ to be applied within the workplace, including an exploration of leadership styles, core qualities, ethical and values led leadership.
They also receive one-on-one reflective mentoring with the Norwich Theatre team and exclusive invitations to leadership-focused events.
In Year 2, participants have the chance to further develop their skills, deepen their understanding of governance, and expand their professional networks.
The programme supports participants to:
- Have a clear understanding of their leadership style and feel empowered to apply leadership skills that have been developed within their personal and professional lives.
- Understand the importance of inclusive leadership practise and contribute to building diverse sectors.
- Feel optimistic about the future and aspire to leadership positions within their sector.
Applications for the programme are currently closed.
We will be recruiting for our 25/26 cohort in summer 2025 – please keep an eye on this page for further details.

Creative Assembly
Young Cultural Leaders is one of our five groups in our Creative Assembly initiative. Each group in the Creative Assembly has its own focus and will bring its own ideas and creativity to help shape the direction of Norwich Theatre. Together, the Creative Assembly will transform decision making at Norwich Theatre and enhance communities’ integration into the life of the theatre.
