Immerse yourself in the gripping story of Shuba Taru, set in 1730s Jodhpur, where one woman’s courage ignited a powerful legacy of resistance. The Maharaja of Jodhpur ordered the felling of the sacred Kejri trees to build his new palace, but Amrita Devi, an indomitable eco-warrior, stood in defiance.
Wrapping her arms around the trunk of a tree to prevent it from being cut down, Amrita’s brave act led to her tragic death at the hands of the king’s men, along with her young daughters, and hundreds of others in the Bishnoi community.
Natyapriya Dance Company brings this extraordinary tale to life with exhilarating dance, rousing music, evocative storytelling, dazzling costumes, and a dash of humour. Don’t miss this unforgettable celebration of courage, sacrifice, and the power of one voice!
