The shows going on sale this month at Norwich Theatre will brighten anyone’s January. They include some classic musical treats, comedians to keep you laughing, a musical star, Shakespearean actors on bikes, and a hip-hop opera!  

One of the greatest musicals of all time, Fiddler on the Roof (12 – 16 Aug 25), is heading to Norwich Theatre Royal this summer. Fiddler on the Roof is a classic musical of joy, revolution, community, and an exuberant celebration of love and life. It features well-known classics, including If I Were A Rich Man, Tradition, Matchmaker, and Sunrise, Sunset. 

 

For the first time, by special permission from Cameron Mackintosh and Music Theatre International, NNOS (Norfolk and Norwich Operatic Society), in collaboration with Threshold Theatre Company, Sound Ideas Theatre Company, and Echo Youth Theatre, will bring you one of the UK amateur premieres of Les Misérables – Let the People Sing (2 6 Jul 25). Les Misérables features one of theatre’s greatest scores and is filled with evocative and emotional songs which have stood the test of time, including I Dreamed a Dream, On My Own, One Day More, Bring Him Home, and more. 

A musical about Buddy Holly’s life and career is heading to Norwich Theatre Royal. Buddy – The Buddy Holly Story (18 – 21 Feb 26) features two terrific hours of the greatest songs ever written, including That’ll Be The Day, Oh Boy, Rave On, La Bamba, Chantilly Lace, Johnny B. Goode, Raining In My Heart, Everyday, Shout, and many, many more. This show is just Peggy Sue-perb!   

Beat the gloom with the comedians down at Norwich Theatre Playhouse, including Larry Dean (10 Apr 25) with a show about identity, heroes and the benefits of being a dafty and Hal Crutteden (16 Sep 25), who will be using his trademark hard-hitting take no prisoners’ comedy to look at subjects such as dating, social media and the insanity of modern politics. Star of Taskmaster, Ghosts and The Great British Sewing Bee, Kiell Smith Bynoe (18 Apr 25) is heading to Norwich Theatre Playhouse with an all-star cast of comedians and some very special guests to turn stories from the audience into completely improvised comedy scenes. 

Fancy trying something new? Give Tones – A Hip Hop Opera (26 Jun 25) at Norwich Theatre Playhouse a go. Tones – A Hip Hop Opera combines the gritty underground sounds of hip-hop, grime and drill with the melodrama of opera to tell the story of a treacherous path to self-discovery.  

Lee Mead (23 May 25), star of Television and award-winning West End leading man, is back for 2025! This production features Lee’s outstanding live band and stunning musical arrangements. 

At Stage Two, Norwich Theatre’s studio theatre, there is a deep dive into the appeal of murder mysteries with It’s A Mystery (11 May 25), a beautiful children’s show based on the picture book The Farmer and The Clown (18 May 25), two shows one-woman shows from the talented Lubna Kerr Tickbox (25 Apr) and Chatterbox (26 Apr) and even a riotous a PowerPoint presentation combining the thrills of World Book Day with Sorry (I Broke Your Arms And Legs) (17 May 25).
