Norwich Theatre is offering a vibrant summer of creative opportunities for all ages, from getting involved in an exciting new co-production to connecting with your little ones there’s something for everyone to discover this summer.
Looking for an exciting opportunity this summer join one of Norwich Theatre’s free RSC Citizen Theatre Makers workshops. By joining, you will have the opportunity to take part in a brand new co-production between Norwich Theatre and the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) that will tell the untold stories of our local communities. As part of an ensemble, you’ll be inspired by Hamlet, one of Shakespeare’s most renowned plays, and bring the stories of our city to life through movement, song, and written and spoken word.
Citizen Theatre Makers: Community Folk (6 May – 15 Jul) is a relaxed, musical group for all ages where you will be able to raise your voices to share joy, culture, tradition and stories through song. If movement is more your thing, Citizen Theatre Makers: Stories in Motion (8 May – 17 Jul) is perfect. The group will explore new ways to tell a story, from rhythmic footwork and body patterns to expressing emotions with gestures from head to toe.
We all have a story to tell, and Citizen Theatre Makers: Storytellers (7 May – 16 Jul) will explore the written and spoken word and craft new narratives. Whether you’re a writer, performer, or storyteller, this multi-generational group will provide you with the space to explore and experiment with your work.

Inspired by the women in Hamlet, Citizen Theatre Makers: Women in Shakespeare (8 May – 17 Jul) invites you to immerse yourself in an experimental approach to Shakespeare’s work and reclaim and reimagine the roles of Ophelia and Gertrude through a contemporary lens.

Get your groove on with Dance Lab (7 May-16 Jul). These sessions are designed to enhance well-being through an exploration of improvisation, physical exercises, and choreographic skills. Or why not join Norwich Theatre’s relaxed and supportive Ballet (2 May-11 Jul) sessions? Both workshops are part of Norwich Theatre’s creative ageing programme, and no experience is necessary.
Theatre Cares—A Life in Music (1 May-3 Jul) brings together individuals with mild to moderate dementia and their partners or carers for fun and engaging music workshops. Participants will explore music in all its forms, from singing and songwriting to getting hands-on with drums, chimes, and stringed and small percussion instruments. Theatre Cares-A Life in Music is supported by the Norfolk Community Foundation through the Sheila Ann Day Fund.
Enjoy some creative time with your little ones with Sing, Dance, Play for babies and toddlers. These musical sessions are a perfect chance to connect with your baby whilst using a range of musical instruments and multi-sensory props.
