Fosters Solicitors, having joined in August last year, are a relatively new addition to the Corporate Membership scheme. Our Business Development Manager, Lauren Farley, chatted to Lucy Butcher from the organisation to find out why they joined Norwich Theatre’s corporate community and what they are most looking forward to!

Tell us about your company and the work you do.

I am a Marketing Assistant at Fosters Solicitors. I am involved in the internal marketing for the organisation and help with some partnerships, including bringing both our people and our partnerships together. Given the work I do, becoming part of the theatre was a really big thing for us.

I danced from a young age, I don’t anymore, but I have always loved the theatre. I have been coming to the theatre since I was four years old and always at the panto every year without fail! It is something I am really supportive of. Seeing the growth and change over the years, along with the fact I can now come and be at a work networking event at the theatre, too is brilliant.

Why did your company decide to become a corporate member?

We joined mainly for our staff but also to support the theatre. We have a lot of creative staff members who are fans of the theatre, and so the membership has really connected with those who work at Fosters. There is always something for everyone, whether that is a comedian, play, or musical. It is really inclusive for us.

Our people have used it quite a lot, which is brilliant, taking their family and friends is a great perk we can offer our employees.

How does it feel to support a local charity and the local arts sector in general?

It is brilliant to be able to support local. It is one of our core values. We enjoy supporting the local sector and getting involved however we can. Supporting local companies and charities to be able to help and for us to see where it goes is such a positive thing.

Why is it important to offer your staff creative wellbeing?

It can seem difficult as a law firm to be involved in the glitz and glamour of the theatre, but our staff are a fantastic, socially diverse mix of people, so it is nice that we offer artistic outlets for them.

We are a proud partner of Mind, the mental health charity. This helps us raise awareness of mental health and improve the wellbeing amongst our colleagues. Positive wellbeing is really important, and I believe having the theatre as an outlet helps with that.

My colleagues bring their friends, family and their children to the theatre. That time out and enjoyment they get from seeing a show with their loved ones is hugely de-stressing. You are just somewhere else, and you’re not thinking about anything else. It is brilliant that Norwich Theatre is so local and you can support it.

How important is it for businesses to share their climate stories

It is an important topic for all types of businesses, and by sharing stories, we can make the necessary steps towards a greener future together. It is great to see all the amazing work you are doing up here, and putting serious topics into art is sometimes a good way of connecting with it.

What is your favourite show you have seen so far?

Years ago, when I was younger, we would come to the panto every year, and I actually got pulled up on stage once, and I won this massive panda. I think I was only about seven. But the best show for me was The Book of Mormon. It was just so funny, and I love musical theatre, but The Book of Mormon was completely different for me.

Favourite Genre

I do love a musical! I need to tap my feet and sing along but comedians as well. Some great things are coming to Norwich Theatre soon!

What are you looking forward to?

Honestly, it is mad you have so much on, and I need to get myself in gear and book some more things, but I am buzzing for Shrek. I think it will be amazing. I am really looking forward to Six. I missed it the last time it was here.
