Norwich Theatre is delighted to announce that the multi award-winning Hamilton will play a six week season at Norwich Theatre Royal from 16 Sep to 25 Oct 2025.
Hamilton is the story of America then, told by America now. Featuring a score that blends hip-hop, jazz, R&B and Broadway, it has taken the story of American founding father, Alexander Hamilton and created a revolutionary moment in theatre, a musical that has had a profound impact on culture, politics, and education.
Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote the lyrics, music, and book of the musical, which is based on the book “Alexander Hamilton” by Ron Chernow, published in 2004.
The Olivier, Tony, Grammy and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical opened at Victoria Palace Theatre in London in December 2017 where it continues to play to sell-out houses and is currently booking until 2 March 2024.
A brand new company for the UK and Ireland tour is currently being assembled and will be announced soon.
Chief Executive and Creative Director of Norwich Theatre, Stephen Crocker said: “Every now and again there is a musical which defines a generation of theatre. This show combines an incredible mix of song style and writing for theatre, plus an authenticity of storytelling and representation of diversity. We are beyond ecstatic to be able to bring this revolutionary musical to audiences in the East.”
Hamilton is produced in the UK by Cameron Mackintosh, Jeffrey Seller, Sander Jacobs, Jill Furman and The Public Theater.
