The name on everybody’s lips is gonna be… Chicago (9 – 14 Aug 27), which is returning to Norwich Theatre Royal! Set amidst the razzle-dazzle decadence of the 1920s, CHICAGO is the story of Roxie Hart, a housewife and nightclub dancer who murders her on-the-side lover after he threatens to walk out on her. Chicago’s sexy, sassy score with one show-stopping song after another includes “Razzle Dazzle”, “Cell Block Tango”, and “All That Jazz”.
Rambert brings the coming-of-age HIV/AIDS drama It’s a Sin (15 – 19 Jun 27) to Norwich Theatre Royal. Inspired by the era-defining, award-winning Channel 4 Series by Russell T Davies. In the heart of 80s London, Ritchie, Roscoe, Colin and Jill are chasing identity, connection and a life on their own terms. When day spills into night, they find a world of abandon, music and friendship, where bodies move freely, and life feels limitless. But as the AIDS crisis begins to unfold, their lives are irrevocably changed.
The story of Paul O’Grady and drag persona Lily Savage comes to Norwich Theatre Royal. Savage (13 Apr 27) follows Paul’s journey from the streets of Merseyside to the heart of London’s club scene, where, armed with little more than his wits and a wig, he began carving out a place for himself. From humble roots and an unassuming start emerged Lily Savage: the fearless, foul-mouthed alter ego who would defy convention and win the hearts of millions.
