On 15 October, Norwich Theatre will bring the business community together for Paying it Forwards in Business at Norwich Theatre Playhouse. This event, centred around the crucial theme of kindness, aims to explore what paying it forward truly means in practice for the local business community.

The event, scheduled from 9am to 2pm, will feature a series of panel discussions, an exciting guest speaker, and an opportunity to network within the local business economy. Inspiring conversations and providing a platform for learning and sharing findings on how we can create environments where employees thrive, businesses are boosted, and the local community is supported.

Paying it Forward in Business is part of Norwich Theatre’s Creative Matters Season Kindness through Creativity. The season explores how creativity and the arts can inspire change, tell unheard stories, build compassion, and create a fairer and kinder society. The Kindness through Creativity season has so far featured a series of shows, take-part activities, film screenings, and half-term take-part workshops. We hope that this event will also bridge the gap between themes which transcend both art and business bringing this theme to the forefront.

Three-panel discussions will be held throughout the day, chaired by Norwich Theatre’s Chief Executive & Creative Director Stephen Crocker and Chairman Tom Sleigh. We will be announcing details of our guest speaker and panellists very soon.

The three panels and some of the headline topics to look out for are:

  • Business – exploring corporate social responsibility and business choices for social impact
  • People – looking at employee benefits, opportunities, development and retention
  • Community – discussing the power of networking, collaborations and partnerships

After three key panels, with some incredible speakers, all guests will then have the opportunity to network and share what they learned from the day.

At the event, there will be a Kindness Wall where attendees can harness the power of kindness in the community. Donations can be made for items listed on the wall, such as tea and cake at Café Royal, a donation to our Christmas Appeal, a family ticket to the panto, and more. All donations will benefit individuals and families within our local community through our charitable work and partners. Further details of the items listed on the wall will be announced on our website in relation to the event.

Lauren Farley, Business Development Manager at Norwich Theatre, said: “Kindness in the workplace feels incredibly pertinent in today’s modern world. In a society where we are always connected, where business is fast-paced and expectations are high, creating kind environments where your people and the wider community can thrive is vital.

“Paying it Forwards in Business focuses on how we see those topics demonstrated in practice by incredible businesses within our community.”

The event costs £8 per person, which includes tea and coffee throughout the morning. The proceeds will directly contribute to Norwich Theatre’s charitable mission of creating creative opportunities for our community.
