Norfolk and Norwich Operatic Society (NNOS) are delighted to announce that tickets for its production of Les Misérables will go on general sale on Fri 31 Jan.

Les Misérables will be performed at Norwich Theatre Royal for one week only between 2 – 6 Jul. Les Misérables is part of NNOS’ centenary year celebrations.

The show is part of Let The People Sing, a nationwide project which sees Cameron Mackintosh and Music Theatre International offering just 11 amateur companies nationwide to produce their own versions of this iconic show as part of the show’s 40th Anniversary celebrations in 2025.

The group will be working in collaboration with Threshold Theatre Company, Sound Ideas Theatre Company and Echo Youth Theatre.

Applications have flooded in across the region to audition for roles in the production. Auditions will be held for a full week in February and will be supported by the Cameron Mackintosh team.

Linda Campbell, Vice Chair and Production Manager at NNOS, said: “We are absolutely thrilled and honoured to be involved in this project and are very excited to cast the show next month from the wealth of talent across the region.

“This full-scale production of Les Misérables will see a large ensemble cast on stage, supported by a professional 16-piece orchestra and brilliant production team with Director Chris Cuming at the helm.”

If you don’t want to wait to hear the people sing, catch NNOS’ production of Singin’ in the Rain (28 Jan – 1 Feb) at Norwich Theatre Royal. Pouring with laughs, charm, romance, and wit, expect high-energy dance routines and classic songs from the movie.

Singin’ in the Rain captures the Hollywood movie transition from silent pictures to the new talkies, following film co-stars Don Lockwood and Lina Lamont. When Monumental Studios turns the silent film The Dueling Cavalier into the all-singing, all-dancing The Dancing Cavalier, they are faced with a problem:  Lina’s shrill and squeaky voice, which might just end her career. As Kathy Selden, an aspiring actress, steps in to save the studio, she begins to fall in love, leaving Don Lockwood with difficult decisions both on and off-screen.
