Summer delights! Latest shows to go on sale at Norwich Theatre

A musical legend, the hottest comedian off-Broadway and Norfolk’s favourite lady, She Go, all go on sale this month.  

All shows go on sale to the public on the last Friday of the month. To book early, why not join our Friends Scheme, which gives you priority access to all the shows going on sale, plus extra discounts and more!  

Sir Tim Rice, the multi-award winning, internationally renowned lyricist, heads to Norwich Theatre Royal for a very special live musical theatre event – My Life In Musicals – I Know Him So Well (5 May 2024). The show will see Tim reflect on his illustrious career at the heart of musical theatre, sharing anecdotes behind the songs – the hits and misses along with stories of his life and live performances from the wonderful catalogue of songs synonymous with his name and his collaborators. Musical accompaniment will be from an array of some of the UK’s leading West End singers and musicians.

Tim is associated with writing the lyrics for so many of the world’s much-loved hit musicals – Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita, Chess and the Disney productions The Lion King, Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast. The show promises to be packed full of songs, including Don’t Cry For Me Argentina, Any Dream Will Do, A Whole New World, Can You Feel The Love Tonight, I Don’t Know How To Love Him, Circle of Life, Chess, Hakuna Matata and so many more. 

At Norwich Theatre Playhouse, don’t miss Sam Morrison and his show critically acclaimed stand-up show Sugar Daddy (31 Oct 23). Sugar Daddy follows Sam as he meets his late partner at a gay bear festival and finds hope and humour in grief after his passing. Sam Morrison is one of the fastest-rising stars on the comedy scene, with Sugar Daddy being extended three times in the US.  

Shake off the Noo Yare blues and join She Go (10 -21 January) at Norwich Theatre Playhouse. She will cast a mascara’d eye over her favourite Norfolk news stories of 2023. Expect fun, filth, songs, slides and a heartfelt tribute to Mike Liggins. It’s going to be big, pink and huge fun! 

Comic, podcast host and former political advisor to Tony Blair’s Labour Party, stand-up Matt Forde, heads to Norwich Theatre Playhouse with Inside No.10 (8 Feb 24). Matt explores the dark comedy horror that is British politics ahead of the next general election. 

 For a perfect introduction to Shakespeare, try RSC First Encounters version of Romeo & Juliet (16 – 17 Feb 24) at Norwich Theatre Playhouse. The company make Shakespeare’s star cross’d lovers relevant for a new generation of theatregoers. This 90-minute version of Romeo and Juliet uses an edited version of the original language to create the perfect first introduction for young people aged 8-13 and their families. 

 

Cricket fan? You won’t want to miss An Evening with Aggers when he comes to Norwich Theatre Playhouse on 23 Apr 24. Jonathan Agnew will bowl audiences over with stories of his illustrious career both on and off the cricketing field. With his masterful on-air prowess seamlessly translating to the stage, he has shared the spotlight with a lineup of cricketing greats, including the indomitable Sir Geoffrey Boycott, the spin maestro Graeme Swann, the Little Master himself Sunil Gavaskar, the enigmatic bad boy Phil Tufnell, and the wonderfully eccentric David ‘Bumble’ Lloyd. 

The on-sale dates for this month’s shows are:

21 Aug 23 – Gold Friends, Supporters and Corporate Members 

23 Aug 23 – Best Friends, Friends 

25 Aug 23 – General Public 

Signing up for Norwich Theatre’s Friends Scheme will give you access to priority booking for shows across its three venues, allowing you to secure your favourite seats. The entry-level into the scheme costs £25 a year and includes benefits such as priority booking, half-price first-night dramas and discounts on up to four tickets per show, plus a 10% discount off food and drink at Norwich Theatre Royal the Playhouse and Stage Two.
