Forming part of Business in Motion, a brand-new professional development series, this unique hands-on workshop is designed to combine the power of theatre skills and creativity to help professionals to deliver their message with impact when speaking in public.
Led by Joseph Arkley from the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC), during this one-day workshop, you’ll learn how to apply practical theatre techniques such as connecting with voice, understanding and utilising body language, breathing and vocal range to confidently deliver engaging presentations that forge deeper connections with your audience.

Structure:
Morning session: You’ll undertake a comprehensive range of exercises which target the key areas of effective public speaking. This will involve working individually and in pairs to adopt and apply the creative techniques you’ll be learning.
Afternoon session: One-on-one focused coaching, leaning into overcoming personal challenges which may have previously led to public speaking being a barrier.
Concluding session: Individuals will have the opportunity to present something to the group from the Norwich Theatre Playhouse stage. If you are working on a presentation or particular speech, you are more than welcome to bring this along to work on during the workshop.

Joseph Arkley is a professional screen and stage actor. Recent TV credits include The Capture and Wreck (both for the BBC). Throughout his career he has given keynote speeches and facilitated workshops for arts organisations and businesses both domestically and abroad.
